Erie lost 6-3 and all six runs were given up by starter Eulogio De La Cruz. He did it on six hits and a walk and he struck out five in four innings.  Still the righthander has 57 strikeouts in 63 innings and he’s only walked 16.  This would be the kind of guy who, without the logjam of pitching at the big league level and the fact that the Tigers will probably in a tough race in September, might have gotten some spot starts in the fall.  For now, we’ll have to wait to see as he moves up the chain like everyone else.

Steve Torrealba was the hitting star. He went two for four with a double, a homerun and two RBIs.
