Detroit Tigers Minor League Baseball Commentary and Analysis
[powered by WordPress.]
Now usually when one thinks about minor league baseball in any aspect, college football usually doesn’t spillover into those thoughts. Unless you happen to be in Ohio and playing for a team based in Michigan (or discussing the financial enigma that was the career of Drew Henson). We are currently playing the Dayton Dragons and I cannot count how many times I have heard some kind of “Michigan sucks” or some other kind of typical Buckeye chatter. Our left fielder, Kody Kaiser who is from Oklahoma, was heckled all game by fans just like he was wearing Maize and Blue and running in downtown Columbus on a football saturday. Now my understanding of these happenings is a little better than most as I was a part of the famous OSU-Michigan rivalry, as was our third baseman, Ronnie Bourquin, who played at THE Ohio State, and neither of us can think of why in the world would people associate the famed college football rivalry with a minor league baseball game? If this isn’t evidence enough that college football trumps all other sports I don’t know what is. It has been able to create hatred between people from neighboring states for no good reason outside of one game a year. Now one may ask me, well how do you feel when you hear all this? Well to be honest, I would like to say how stupid and immature it all is, but I can’t. I’m a Michigan man and having lived my whole life bleeding Maize and Blue, it gets me going and I love every bit of it.
