Casey Crosby got it done again and you wonder how much longer it’ll be before he gets pushed up. He didn’t allow a hit and he walked one with six strikeouts in five shutout innings. The win pushed his record to 6-2 and he has 74 strikeouts in 63 2/3 innings with a 3.39 ERA.
Gustavo Nunez went three for three with a triple, two RBIs and two runs. Bryan Pounds went two for four with two doubles, two runs and an RBI.
Mark Sorensen improved to 3-2 on the season with a really nice start in the Whitecaps 4-1 win over the Loons. He gave up just a run on six hits with four strikeouts in eight innings. Tyler Conn struck out two in a shutout ninth to pick up his third save of the season.
Brent Wyatt singled and drove in a pair of runs in the win. Ben Guez went one for two with a walk and two RBIs while Brandon Douglas went two for four with a run.
The Whitecaps scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning but that just turned a four run game into a one run game as they lost to the Dragons 7-6. Jordan Lennerton belted a two run blast while Bryan Pounds went one for three with a triple, a walk, an RBI and two runs.
Luke Putkonen fell to 4-4 on the season in the loss. He gave up five runs on six hits and three walks with six strikeouts in six innings.
Casey Crosby improved to 5-2 on the season with a nice start in the Caps 6-0 win over the Dayton Dragons. He gave up two hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five innings. Victor Larez struck out two in three shutout innings of relief.
Mike Gosse went three for four with an RBI. Billy Nowlin went one for three with a solo homer, two walks and three runs.
Jared Gayhart gave up a solo homer in the bottom of the ninth and that proved to be the difference in the Whitecaps 5-4 loss to the Dragons. It was Gayhart’s third inning of relief and he fell to 5-3. Brandon Hamilton had another mediocre start and he gave up four runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings. With his rough first couple of months, you wonder if Hamilton is destined for Oneonta when the short season teams start up.
Joseph Bowen went two for four with two RBIs. Mike Gosse went two for four with a double, a run and an RBI.
The Whitecaps had two fewer hits then their opposition but it was still go enough to walk away with a 5-2 win over Fort Wayne. Luis Salas singled and drove in two runs while Brent Wyatt doubled and drove in one.
Jared Gayhart picked up the win and he improved to 5-2 with two innings of shutout relief. Tyler Stohr pitched a shutout ninth and he picked up his twelth save of the season.
The Caps scored four runs in the fifth inning and that proved to be the difference in their 6-4 win over the Loons. Gustavo Nunez led the way at the plate and he went three for four with two runs, a triple and an RBI. Brent Wyatt doubled, drew a walk, drove in one and scored twice.

The Whitecaps went down by five runs in the first then were down 8-3 before they stormed back and scored four runs in the final two frames. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough and the comeback fell a run short in their 8-7 loss to the Loons. Brandon Hamilton had a really rough outing and he gave up those five first inning runs and he got just one out in the first inning.
