Jonah Nickerson had a pretty good start in the White Caps 4-3 win over South Bend. He gave up three runs (two earned) on ten hits and five walks with two strikeouts in seven innings. Zachary Piccola picked up the win with two shutout innings and he improved to 1-0 on the season.
Gorkys Hernandez went two for five with a double and a run. Brennan Boesch singled twice and he drove in two runs.
It looks like Matt O’Brien’s demotion to Single A was just what he needed because in his second consecutive start, he didn’t give up a run. He improved to 2-0 and he gave up six hits and three walks with two strikeouts in seven shutout innings.
The lone run of the game for both sides came in the first inning. Brennan Boesch singled home Scott Sizemore and that was it. Sizemore was the only White Cap hitter with two hits.
The big story in this game was when Louis Ott was hit in the seventh, there was a bench clearing brawl. Nobody got hurt but it made the local news. The Lugnuts pitcher was ejected as was Ott.
That overshadowed a solid pitching performance by Casey Fien. He gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits and he struck out five in five innings of relief. The win pushed his record to 2-0 on the season.
Scott Sizemore was the hitting star in the 4-2 win. He went two for four with a triple, a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.
Lauren Gagnier improved to 3-7 on the season with a excellent start in the White Caps 4-1 win over the Lugnuts. He gave up one run on five hits and one walk with five strikeouts in seven innings.
Scott Sizemore went two for three with a double, two RBIs and a run. Audy Ciriaco belted a two run homer in the second inning.
The White Caps pitcher had a tough time getting outs as the Lugnuts blew out West Michigan 16-9. Duane Below took the brunt of it and he gave up nine runs (eight earned) on seven hits and six walks with six strikeouts in three innings.
Jeramy Laster went two for four with two RBIs and two runs. Deik Scram went three for six with a run and an RBI.

James Skelton went two for four with a double, an RBI and two runs. Jeramy Laster singled twice, drove in a run and scored two.
Matt O’Brien improved to 1-0 on the season with a fantastic start in the White Caps 4-0 win over the Dragons. He gave up five hits and a walk with three strikeouts in seven shutout innings.
Ryan Strieby went one for three with a walk and two RBIs. Brennan Boesch went one for five with a double, an RBI and a run.
Ryan Strieby hit a big two run homer in the top of the ninth and that proved to be the game winner in the White Caps 4-3 win over the Dragons. Audy Ciriaco also had a nice game and he went two for four with a double and two RBIs.
A solid start by Jeffrey Gerbe almost went to waste. He gave up just two runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in seven innings. Casey Fien picked up the win with a shutout eighth.
Duane Below left the game with a 6-0 lead after throwing five shutout innings but the saw the pen almost give the game up. A timely run by the White Caps in the ninth turned out to make a huge difference as West Michigan escaped with a 7-6. Below improved to 7-2 on the season with the win.
Michael Bertram went three for five with a double, a triple, an RBI and a run. James Skelton went two for five with a solo homerun and two runs scored.
The White Caps finally picked up a win and they did it with plenty of offense in their 9-1 win over the Dragons. Audy Ciriaco tripled, drove in three and scored a run while James Skelton doubled, walked, drove in two and scored two runs.
Jeffrey Gerbe improved to 2-0 on the season with a nice start. He gave up one unearned run on five hits and a walk with five strikeouts in seven solid innings.
Kenny Rogers took the loss in the White Caps 10-0 blowout loss to Dayton. He gave up three runs (one earned) on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts in five innings. He’s getting in his time though and building up his endurance and it still looks like he’ll be making his Tiger season debut in June.
Brennan Boesch was the only White Cap with two hits. He singled and doubled in the loss.
The White Caps struggles continued with a pretty poor offensive outing against Fort Wayne. Santo De Leon’s double was one of three White Caps hits and he drove in the only for the team.
A nice start by Christopher Cody went to waste. He gave up two runs on seven hits with nine strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings.
Brett Jensen had a rough relief appearance. He not only gave up two runs in the ninth to send the game into extra frames, he also gave up a run in the tenth that cost the White Caps in their 7-6 loss to Fort Wayne.
Deik Scram doubled twice, drove in two and scored two. James Skelton went four for five with a homerun and two RBIs.
Angel Castro fell to 6-4 on the season with a pretty rough start in the White Caps 9-7 loss to the Loons. He gave up seven runs on nine hits and two walks with five strikeouts in five innings.

Jose Fragoso gave up a solo homerun in the bottom of the eleventh as the White Caps lost to the Dragons 3-2. A pretty good start by Eleazar Aponte went to waste in the loss. He gave up two runs on seven hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in six innings.

The White Caps won 8-3 and James Skelton had a hand in half of those runs with a big day at the plate. He went two for three with a double and four RBIs. Audy Ciraco also had a big day and he went two for five with a double, a homerun, three RBIs and three runs.
Josh Rainwater improved to 7-2 on the season with a nice start. He gave up three runs (one earned) on five hits and four walks with four strikeouts in six innings.
The White Caps scored five runs in the first two innings only to see their pitchers give the lead up. Duane Below was tagged for six runs in 6 1/3 innings while Jose Fragaso was tagged for two runs in 1 2/3 and he took the loss.
