The White Caps dismantled Kane County 9-3 and Brennan Bosch and Louis Ott led the way at the plate. Bosch singled three times and he drove in two and scored once. Ott singled twice, doubled and drove in two.
Jonah Nickerson picked up the win with five mediocre innings. He gave up three runs on three hits and three walks with five strikeouts and the win improved his record to 2-2.
The White Caps lost to the Cougars 5-3 and the two teams combined to make six errors in the game. Christopher Cody took the loss and he dropped to 2-2 on the season. He gave up four runs on four hits and a walk with six strikeouts in six innings.
James Skelton was the hitting star. He went three for four and he drove in a run.
Santo De Leon had only one hit in the White Caps 5-4 win over Kane County, but he made it count with a bases loaded clearing triple in the first inning. Ryan Strieby reached base three times with two walks and a single.
Duane Below picked up the win with a solid start. He gave up a single run on five hits and three walks with three strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.
Angel Castro improved to 2-1 on the season with a solid start in the White Caps 6-1 win over the Cougars. He gave up a single run on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts in five innings.
Jeramy Laster went two for four with a double, a run and an RBI. Gorkys Hernandez went two for five with a double and a run.
The White Caps were shut out today in their 4-0 loss despite being held to nine hits. In all, the team left eleven baserunners on base. James Skelton was a perfect three for three and he drew one walk.
Lauren Gagnier was hit hard and he dropped to 1-3 on the season. He gave up four runs on eight hits and three walks with four strikeouts in six innings.
Jonah Nickerson had a solid start but because of a lack of run support, he dropped 1-2 with the loss. He gave up three runs on five hits with nine strikeouts in seven innings.
Deik Scram was the hitting star in the 4-2 loss. He went two for three with a double and a run.
The White Caps couldn’t put a single run on the board and a great start by Christopher Cody was wasted in the 1-0 loss. Cody gave up on unearned run on two hits with six strikeouts in seven innings and the loss is his first of the season.
Louis Ott was the hitting star, if you can have one in a shutout. He went two for four with a double.
Brennan Boesch homered and drove in four runs in the White Caps 11-3 win over Peoria. Gorkys Hernandez also had a nice game and he went three for four with a double, two RBIs and two runs. Audy Ciriaco went three for five with an RBI and two runs.
Duane Below picked up the win his start. He gave up three runs on three hits and two walks with six strikeouts in five innings of work.
The White Caps beat Wisconsin today 6-3 and Jeramy Laster had a nice day at the plate. He went two for two with two walks, a double and two runs.

The White Caps lost to Wisconsin 6-3 and Jonah Nickerson, the Tigers seventh round pick in 2006, had a tough time especially near the end of his start. He held Wisconsin scoreless in the first four innings but then he gave up two in the fifth, one of the sixth and two more in seventh until he was pulled with two outs. He gave up eight hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
Ryan Strieby was the hitting star. He went two for four with a run and an RBI.
Christopher Cody has been a man on fire for West Michigan lateley. He gave up just one run on six hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in seven innings of work and the win improved his record to 2-0. The eighth round draft pick in 2006, Cody has now just given up one earned run in 26 2/3 innings and he’s struck out 28. This is one of those guys who doesn’t throw really well and until starts facing guys in Double A, we really won’t know if he’s for real. Those number are pretty amazing though and he’s a left hander, which makes it even better.
Jeramy Laster went one for four with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs. Gorkys Hernandez scored twice and Louis Ott finished with three hits, a run and an RBI in the 8-2 win.
The White Caps picked up a run in the eighth and then two more in the ninth to win it over Wisconsin 4-3. Scott Sizemore was the hitting star and he went two for four with a double and two RBIs. Gorkys Hernandez also had a solid game and he went two for five with a run and an RBI.
Duane Below threw six solid innings in his start and he gave up two runs on four hits with nine strikeouts. Brett Jensen struck out two in a perfect ninth and he improved to 2-0 on the season with the win.
The White Caps lost 3-1 and while they racked up eight hits, only one baserunner crossed the plate. The lone run scored on Ryan Strieby’s sac. fly and all eight hits were singles. Scott Sizemore and Santo De Leon each had two hits in the loss.
Angel Castro took the loss and he dropped to 1-1. He gave up three runs on four hits and one walk with seven strikeouts. Three of four hits were solo homeruns.
The White Caps managed just four singled in their 3-0 loss to Clinton. They did draw eight walks and Jeffrey Kunkel reached base three times with a single and two walks.
A decent start by Lauren Gagnier went to waste. He gave up three runs on six hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. The loss dropped Gagnier to 0-2.
The White Caps won 4-3 in ten innings today. Leading the way with the bat was Scott Sizemore, who went two for five with a two run homer. Gorkys Hernandez also got it done at the plate. He went three for five with a run.
Brett Jansen picked up the win with two innings of shutout relief. Phil Napolitan gave up just one unearned run in 4 1/3 innings of relief.
Christopher Cody was on fire in the White Caps 5-0 win today. He gave up just four hits and two walks with five strikeouts in eight shutout innings. He improved to 1-0 and he now has a string of 19 2/3 innings where he hasn’t given up a run. He’s struck out 21 versus just five walks, which is a pretty impressive ratio.
Gorkys Hernandez had a hot day with the stick. He went two for three with a walk, a run and an RBI. James Skelton went two for four with a run and an RBI.

Scott Sizemore walked three times and he scored a run in the 3-2 win. Ryan Strieby doubled twice and drove in a run while Gorkys Hernandez singled twice and scored.
Jeramy Laster had a great day at the plate in the White Caps 5-4 win over South Bend. He went three for four with a double and two RBIs. Scott Sizemore also had a nice game with four singles and a run.
Duane Below struck out seven in 4 2/3 innings and he didn’t get a decision. Josh Rainwater picked up the win while Brett Jansen picked up the save.
West Michigan got some solid pitching in both games against South Bend today but the hitting was a little spotty. They picked up one run though and a split after a rough day at the plate isn’t all bad.
In the first game, the White Caps managed just three singles in the shutout loss. Lauren Gagnier took the loss and he gave up two runs on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts in four innings.
In game two, the White Caps picked up only two runs but it was enough because of a nice start by Angel Castro. He gave up a run on six hits and two walks with one strikeout. James Sketlon and Gorkys Hernandez both doubled and scored a run in the 2-1 win.
A great start by Christopher Cody went to waste today as the White Caps lost 3-1 to the Lug Nuts. He gave up just one unearned run on two hits and a walk with eleven strikeouts through 6 2/3 innings but he left the game tied 1-1 because West Michigan couldn’t get their sticks going. Then Randor Bierd gave up a two run homerun in the ninth and he took the loss.
Ryan Strieby singled home Deik Scram for the only run of the game. James Skelton had two of the White Caps four hits.
