Mike Hessman has been an RBI machine for Mud Hens and he continued to do it in the Hens 13-7 win over the Bulls. He went two for four with a homerun, three RBIs and two runs. Chris Shelton went two for three with a homerun, three RBIs and two runs while Timo Perez had three hits, two runs and two RBIs.
Yorman Bazardo picked up the win and he improved to 7-3 on the season. He gave up four runs on eleven hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in six innings.
Virgil Vasquez just can’t catch a break. He’s had some rough starts lately but even in his good ones, the team hasn’t hit for him and today was no exception. He fell to 7-3 and he gave up two runs on just three hits with three strikeouts in eight innings in the 2-1 loss.
Chris Shelton had the only extra base hit of the game with his 23rd double. He also drove in the only Hens run of the game.
The Mud Hens scored two runs in the sixth inning to make it a 4-3 deficit against Vancouver but that’s as far as they got in the loss. Jonathan Connolly took the loss and he fell to 1-1 on the season. He gave up all four runs on nine hits and a walk with one strikeout in 5 2/3 innings.
Ryan Rayburn belted homerun number 16 with a solo shot in the sixth inning. Timo Perez doubled and he drove in one of the Hens’ runs.
Ron Chiavacci improved to 7-4 on the season with a nice start in the Hens 5-2 win over Ottawa. He gave up two runs on seven hits with four walks in seven innings.
Kevin Hooper went two for three with a walk, an RBI and three runs. Ramon Santiago went three for five with a double and a run.
The Mud Hens took care of Ottawa 8-5 and while Mike Hessman went just one for four, that one hit was a two run homer that gave Hessman 23 on the season. The third baseman is having a nice season and he’s driven in 75 runs in 76 games and his slugging percentage is an impressive .589. He is a journeyman at 29 years old and the Braves gave up on him but this is a particularly good season. You almost feel bad for him because he has Brandon Inge blocking his way up but with a season like this, you wonder if it’ll get him some notice.
Chris Maples had a timely hit in the win as well. He went one for three with a double and three RBIs. Jack Hannahan went one one for one with four walks and three runs.
Jordan Tata improved to 2-1 on the season with a nice start. He gave up three runs on seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts in seven solid innings.
Mike Hessman had a nice day at the plate in the Mud Hens 9-1 blowout win over Indianapolis. He gave went two for two with a double, three walks, five RBIs and two runs. Ramon Santiago went three for four with a double, a run and a walk.
Yorman Bazardo threw seven scoreless innings and he improved to 6-3 on the season. He gave up four hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
Jack Hannahan singled with the bases loaded in the bottom of the nine and Timo Perez and Chris Shelton both scored as the Mud Hens came from behind to beat Indianapolis 7-6. Ryan Rayburn doubled twice in the game and he drove in two while Mike Hessman went one for three with two walks, a solo homerun and two RBIs.
Virgil Vasquez was bailed out after a poor star. He gave up six runs on eight hits and two walks with one strikeout in 6 2/3 innings. Anthony Tomey picked up the win with two shutout innings to close out the game.
Things looked grim for the Mud Hens when Aquilino Lopzez gave up a go ahead run to Indianpolis in the top of the eleventh. Fortunately, The Hens rallied in the bottom half off the inning and Mike Hessman drove belted a walk off two run single after loading the bases to win it 7-6. Jack Hannahan had a great game and he went two for four with two homeruns and three RBIs while Timo Perez went three for five with a run.
Lopez picked up the win despite giving up that eleventh inning run. Jonathan Connolly had a nice start and he gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks with five strikeouts in five innings.
Aquillino Lopez gave up a run in the bottom of the tenth and he took the loss in a tight ten inning game between Ottawa and the Hens. A pretty good start by Ron Chivacci went to waste. He gave up three runs on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts in eight solid innings.
Jack Hannahan had a great day at the plate in the 4-3 loss. He went three for three with a double and a two run homer. Chris Shelton went two for four with a double, an RBI and a run.
Jordan Tata picked up his first win of the season with a nice start in the Hens 8-2 win over Ottawa. He gave up two runs on nine hits and a walk with four strikeouts.
Timo Perez went two for five with a double, a homerun and three RBIs. Mike Hessman hit a solo homerun and Henry Mateo went three for four with a double, an RBI and two runs.
The Mud Hens managed only four hits in a twelve inning game but they still walked away with a 2-1 win. Dane Sardinha drew a bases loaded walk in the top of the twelth to win it for the Hens. Ramon Santiago had two of the four hits and he scored the first run for the Hens in the first inning.
Virgil Vasquez threw six shutout innings and then Yorman Bazardo gave up just one run in five innings of relief to pick up the win. He improved to 5-3 on the season.
The Mud Hens pitching was pretty spotty but they got it done at the plate in their 11-8 win over Ottawa. Ramon Santiago went four for six with three RBIs and a run and Jack Hannahan went two for three with two RBIs, two walks and three runs. Mike Hessman also contributed with a two run homerun. It was his 20th long ball of the year.
Corey Hamman was hit for seven runs in 5 2/3 innings but with all of the offense, he still picked up his first win of the season. He improved to 1-5 on the season.
Dennis Tankersley fell to 6-5 on the season in a start where he didn’t even finish the second inning. He gave up five runs on six hits and he struck out one.
Timo Perez went two for five with an RBI in the 6-4 loss. Mike Hessman and Jack Hannahan each had solo homeruns.
The Mud Hens poured on the offense in their 12-3 blowout win over the Syracuse Chiefs. Chris Shelton went two for four with a homerun and two runs. David Espinosa tripled and he drove in three runs while Mike Hessman went three for three with a double and three runs.
Ron Chiavacci improved to 6-4 with a nice start. He gave up three runs on eight hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in six innings of work.
David Espinosa had four hits and two RBIs in the Mud Hens 5-2 win over the Chiefs. Chris Maples also had a nice game and he went two for three with one RBI and one run.
Jordan Tata had a nice start but he didn’t pick up the decision. He gave up two runs on five hits and four walks with two strikeouts. Preston Larrison picked up the win with 2 1/3 shutout innings.
There were plenty of hitting stars and plenty of offense in the Hens 12-6 win over the Syracuse Chiefs. Henry Mateo, Ryan Rayburn and Jack Hannahan all had three hits and Rayburn and Hannahan each drove in three.
Virgil Vasquez was roughed up but the hitters bailed him out. He gave up six runs in his four innings of work. Eulogio De La Cruz picked up the win with three shutout innings of relief. I still think he should be in a rotation somewhere, but De La Cruz is starting to take to the pen after a rough start after his promotion to Toledo.
Corey Hamman dropped to 0-5 on the season with a tough start in the Hens 4-3 loss to Norfolk. He gave up four runs on seven hits and three walks with three strikeouts in five innings.
Jack Hannahan had a nice day at the plate in the loss. He went two for four with a solo homerun. Ryan Rayburn went two for four with a double and an RBI.
Kenny Rogers was definitely a sight for sore eyes and he looked pretty sharp in his first rehab start. He gave up just three hits and he struck out two in 3 2/3 innings. Ron Chiavacci picked up the win and he gave up one run on three hits and a walk with three strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.
Chris Shelton had a nice day at the plate in the 2-1 win. He went two for three with two doubles and a run.
Kevin Hooper singled home Henry Mateo in the bottom of the eleventh inning to win it for the Mud Hens. Ryan Rayburn had a nice day at the plate in the 3-2 win. He went three for five with a solo homerun and Hooper finished with three hits and two RBIs.
Jordan Tata threw five shutout innings in his start. Ian Ostlund picked up the win and he threw a shutout eleventh inning.
Virgil Vasquez had a mixed start in the Mud Hens 6-5 loss to Syracuse. He did give up four runs on eight hits and two walks in 5 2/3 innings, but he did strike out eight. Roman Colon gave up the go ahead run though and he fell to 0-1 on the season.
Mike Hessman ws the hitting star in the loss. He went two for four with a double, a homerun, two RBIs and a run. Henry Mateo went two for four with a triple, two RBIs and a run.
