David Espinosa Drives In Three Runs In Hens Win Over Clippers

David Espinosa was the hitting star in the Mud Hens 5-2 win over Columbus.  He went three for four with a triple, three RBIs and a run.  Andres Torres went two for four with a solo homerun.

Eddie Bonine shined in his Triple A debut.  He gave up two runs on seven hits and one walk with four strikeouts in eight innings.

Matt O’Brien Has Solid Start In Toledo Debut

Matt O’Brien made the most of his Triple A debut and pitched the Hens to a 6-2 win over Louisville.  He gave up just a single run on three hits and a walk with three strikeouts in six solid frames.

David Espinosa was the hitting star in the win.  He went two for four with a double, a homerun and three RBIs.

Toledo Loses to Louisville In Twelve Innings

Aquilino Lopez gave up two runs in the top of the eleventh inning as the Toledo lost to Louisville 4-2 in eleven innings.  It’s too bad because a pretty good start went to waste.  He gave up two runs (one earned) on six hits and three walks with five strikeouts in seven solid frames.

Mike Hessman drove in a pair of runs to bring his International League total to 100 on the season.  Jason Perry doubled and scored a run.

Mud Hens Come Back Falls Short In Loss to Bats

The Mud Hens turned a seven run deficit into a one run game with a late inning rally but 9-8 is as close as they’d get.  Anastatcio Martinez was shelled and he gave up eight runs on seven hits and four walks with two strikeouts in just 2 1/3 innings.  The loss drops him to 5-7 on the season.

Erick Almonte was the hitting star in the loss.  He went four for five with an RBI and two runs.  Dane Sardinha went one for four with a homerun, three RBIs and two runs.

Bats Edge Hens 3-2

Jordan Tata fell to 4-4 on the season despite a decent start in the Hens 3-2 loss to Louisville.  He gave up three runs on four hits and five walks with six strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.

Omar Infante went two for four with a double in the loss.  Brent Clevlen went two for three and he doubled as well.

Virgil Vasquez Pitches Hens to Win Over Indianapolis

Virgil Vasquez improved to 12-5 on the season with a nice start in the Hens 4-1 win over Indianapolis.  He gave up one run on five hits and one walk with four strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Andrew Graham went two for four with an RBI and two runs.  Jason Perry went two for four with a double and he scored twice.

Yorman Bazardo Is Hit Hard In Hens Loss to Indianapolis

Yorman Bazardo fell to 10-6 on the season with a tough start in the Hens 7-2 loss to Indianapolis.  He gave up seven runs on six hits and three walks with two strikeouts in six innings of work.

Jason Perry hit his first homerun since joining the Hens.  Omar Infante went two for four with a double and a run in the loss.

Dennis Tankersley Pitches Hens to Win Over Indianapolis

It was another impressive pitching performance for the Hens in their 2-1 win over Indianapolis.  Dennis Tankersley improved to 10-7 and he gave up just one run on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts in seven solid innings.

Omar Infante went three for four and he drove in one of the two Mud Hens’ runs.  Andres Torres doubled, drew a walk and scored.

Ron Chiavacci Pitches Hens to Win Over Indianapolis

Ron Chiavacci improved to 12-6 on the season with another nice start in the Hens 2-1 win over Indianapolis.  He gave up six hits and one walk with four strikeouts in six shutout innings.

Mike Hessman provided the offense for the Hens.  He belted his 31st homer of the season and he drove in both runs.

Jordan Tata Has Solid Start In Hens 8-4 Win Over Indianapolis

Jordan Tata improved to 4-3 on the season with another nice start in the Hens 8-4 win over Indianapolis.  He gave up one run on five hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Mike Hessman belted his 30th homerun of the season for the Hens.  He also tripled, drove in two runs and scored twice.  Brent Clevlen went two for four with a solo homerun and two runs.

Virgil Vasquez Throws Two Hit Shutout In Mud Hens Win

Virgil Vasquez threw a gem as he pitched his second complete game shutout of the season in the Hens 4-0 win over Indianapolis.  He gave up just two hits and a walk with seven strikeouts and the win pushed his record to 11-5.

Chris Shelton provided the offense with a grand slam homer in the fourth inning.  It was his thirteenth long ball of the season.

The win pushed the Hens out to an eight game lead over Indianapolis and a playoff spot is pretty much in the bag.  It’ll be fun to see the Hens go after their third straight Governor’s Cup.

Andrew Miller Throws Three Solid Innings In Mud Hens Ten Inning Loss

Andrew Miller had some better luck in his second rehab start despite the Hens not winning.  He gave up just one run on one hit with five strikeouts in three innings to start the game.  Yorman Bazardo threw six solid frames but Jose Capellan gave up three runs in the top of the ninth as the Hens lost it 6-3.

Timo Perez doubled and drove in two runs in the loss.  Brent Clevlen went two for four with a triple and a run.

Ron Chiavacci Pitches Hens to Win Over Columbus

Ron Chiavacci improved to 11-6 with a nice start in the Hens 5-2 win over Columbus.  He gave up one run on four hits with six strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings. 

Mike Hessman went two for two with two walks, a homerun and three RBIs.  Chris Shelton had a team high three hits with two doubles, a run and an RBI.

Andrew Miller Roughed Up In Rehab Stater

Andrew Miller threw three tough innings as he started his rehab assignment with the Hens.  He gave up five runs on five hits and five walks with four strikeouts in just three innings.  He reached his pitch count pretty quickly and those three pretty poor innings were all he could manage.  Joel Zumaya threw better with a shutout eight.  He didn’t strike anyone out but he also didn’t give up a base runner.

All of the scoring in this 8-7 win came prior to the sixth inning.  Mike Hessman homered and drove in four runs while Timo Perez went three for four with a triple, two RBIs and two runs.

Dane Sardinha Drives Home Winning Run In Ninth in Mud Hens Win

Dane Sardinha singled home Erick Almonte in the top of the ninth inning as the Hens topped the Tide 4-3.  Almonte finished the game with two hits and as did Sardinha.

Macay McBride picked up the win with three shutout innings in his Toledo debut.  Virgil Vasquez was rolling in his start but Norfolk touched him up for three runs in the fifth inning.

Rough Seventh Inning Costs Hens In Loss to Norfolk

Three different Mud Hens pitchers combined to give up five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning as they lost to Norfolk 5-2.  Corey Hamman took the loss but he had a solid outing.  He gave up just one run on five hits with a strikeout in six innings.  Jeremy Johnson was the one who got tagged with the most damage as he was credited with three of the five runs.  Joel Zumaya made his first rehab appearance.  He gave up a hit and struck out one in 2/3 of an inning.

Timo Perez provided the offense with a two run homer, his thirteenth of the season.  Andres Torres went two for three with a walk.

Tigers Held to Six Hits In Loss to Indianpolis

The Mud Hens had a tough time getting anything going at the plate in their 4-2 loss to Indianapolis.  Henry Mateo was the hitting star with two singles, a run and a walk while Erick Almonte went one for one with three walks.

Anastacio Martinez went the distance in the loss and he fell to 5-6.  He gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts.

Dennis Tankersley Pitches Hens to Win Over Indianapolis

Dennis Tankersley got off to a rough start but he settled down and improved to 9-6 in the Hens 4-2 win over Indianapolis.  He gave up the two runs on five hits and three walks with eight strikeouts in eight innings of work.

Dane Sardinha belted a two run homer in the seventh inning to help out the cause.  Chris Shelton went two for two with two walks and a run.

Ron Chiavacci Throws Seven Shutout Innings In Mud Hens Win

Ron Chiavacci improved to 10-6 on the season with an excellent start in the Mud Hens 4-0 win over the Bulls.  He gave up three hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in seven shutout innings.

Andres Torres was the hitting star in the win.  He went two for three with a double, a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.

Virgil Vasquez Is Hit Hard In Hens Loss

Virgil Vasquez fell to 10-5 on the season with a tough start in the Mud Hens 9-3 loss to Durham.  He gave up five runs (four earned) on eleven hits with three strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.

Dane Sardinha went two for four with two RBIs.  Brent Clevlen went two for three with a walk.
