The SeaWolves finally picked up their first win of the season and they did it in dramatic fashion. After the pen gave up two runs in the top of the ninth to give up the lead, Max St. Pierre then belted a two run walk off home run in the bottom of the ninth to win it. It was nice because a solid start by Thad Weber almost went to waste. He gave up a run on one hit and three walks with three strikeouts in six innings. Ryan Ketchner picked up the win despite giving up four runs in three innings of relief.
St. Pierre had a big day at the plate. The walk off home run was his second home run of the game and he finished three for four with three runs and three RBIs. Shawn Roof went two for three with a run.
It was another tough day at the plate at the SeaWolves hitters were held in check in a 4-1 loss to the Thunder. Jeff Kunkel tripled and scored the lone run while Shawn Roof singled Kunkel home.
Duane Below fell to 0-1 in the loss. He gave up three runs on four hits with seven strikeouts in four innings. Ryan Ketchner gave up a run on four hits in three innings of relief.
Ramon Garcia fell to 4-4 on the season as the SeaWolves lost to Akron 9-3 in their final game of the season. He gave up eight runs (six earned) on eleven hits in 3 1/3 innings.
Christopher White belted a home run and he drove in two. Shawn Roof went three for four with a solo homer.
The SeaWolves had a twin billing today and they lost them both. Game one went ten innings and Jay Sborz took the loss when he gave up a tenth inning run. Brett Jensen gave up a run in the sixth and that was what put the game into extra frames. Alex Avila went two for five with a double, a run and two RBIs. Danny Worth went two for four with a double and two runs.
Game two turned into a one run pitchers duel in a game where the two teams combined for just six hits. Shawn Roof doubled and that was the only extra base hit. Josh Rainwater took the loss despite a very nice start. He gave up a run on three hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five innings.
There’s nothing like overcoming a 9-1 deficit and that’s just what Erie did earlier tonight. There were plenty of hitting stars in the SeaWolves 12-9 win over the Curve but Shawn Roof was a notch above the rest. He went four for five with two triples, five RBIs and two runs. Maxwell Leon went four for five with a double, two RBIs and two runs.
Jon Kibler was pummelled for eight runs in 2 2/3 innings. Josh Rainwater pitched two shutout innings of relief and he improved to 2-0 while Cody Satterwhite pitched a shutout ninth to pick up his seventh save of the season.
Lakeland got nothing done at the plate tonight as they lost to Daytona 3-1. No hitter got more then one, all three hits were singles and no hitter reached base more then once. Shann Roof drew a walk and he scored the lone run of the game for the Flying Tigers.
Thad Weber fell to 0-2 on the season. he gave up two runs on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts in five frames.
The pitching just wasn’t there for the Flying Tigers today. Joel Zumaya made another rehab start and he was roughed up by Clearwater in the 9-1 loss. Zumaya gave up three runs (two earned) on two hits and three walks with three strikeouts in just 1 1/3 innings. Andrew Hess also had a rough outing and he gave up three runs on seven hits and a walk with two strikeouts in four innings.
Shawn Roof was the hitting star in the loss. He went two for three with a double. Kody Kaiser went one for three with a double and an RBI.
Lakeland couldn’t get much done at the plate as they lost to the Reds 8-2. Shawn Roof had the big hit with a two run single but that was the extent of the scoring in this one.
The pen struggled but Ramon Garcia was good enough in his start, he just didn’t get the support. He gave up three runs (two earned) on seven hits with five strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.
Matt O’Brien didn’t get the win, but he threw a nice game as Lakeland topped Tampa 1-0. He gave up just two hits with two strikeouts in six shutout innings. Jordan Tata picked up his first win with two shutout frames.
Scott Sizemore drove in the lone run of the game for either side. Shawn Roof singled and he scored the only run.
Duane Below improved to 2-2 on the season with a nice start in the Flying Tigers 7-2 win over Dunedin. He gave up two runs on seven hits and four walks with six strikeouts in five innings.
Justin Justice got it done at the plate and he went three for four with a walk, a solo homer and two runs. Shawn Roof went two for four with a double, two RBIs and a run.
Lakeland took care of Sarasota 4-2 and Duane Below got it done on the mound. He gave up three hits and three walks with nine strikeouts in six innings.
Shawn Roof was the hitting star. He went two for four and he drove in two of the Flying Tigers four runs.
The month of August has not been kind to Lakeland. They lost their sixth straight game and they’ve lost fourteen of their last fifteen as they continue to sit well in the cellar of the second half standings. This time it was a ten inning loss that saw Josh Rainwater give up the losing run in the tenth inning.
Maxwell Leon went three for four with a double, a walk and a run. Shawn Roof went two for four with two RBIs in the 4-3 loss.
Dusty Ryan belted a three run shot and a solo homer and finished the game with four RBIs but it wasn’t enough as the Flying Tigers lost 8-6 to Dunedin. The only other hitter with two hits was Shawn Roof who went two for four with a double, a run and an RBI.
Edward Clelland gave up five runs in 1 2/3 innings of relief and he fell to 0-1 on the season. Angel Castro had a mediocre start and he gave up three runs in five innings of work.
Lakeland had a tough time at the plate in their two losses in a doubleheader sweep at the hands of the Yankees. In the first game, Lakeland was shutout 4-0 and they not only didn’t score a run, they were held hitless. Angel Castro took the loss and he fell to 3-1 on the season. He gave up four runs on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts in six innings of work.
The second game was closer but it was still a loss. Kyle Sleeth fell to 0-4 in the 4-3 loss and he gave up four runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings. Shawn Roof singled and drove in two runs while Michael Hernandez went two for three with a walk and a run.
Lakeland was double bageled by Jupiter in two tough losses. Game one was a 13-0 blowout in which Kyle Sleeth was hit hard. He gave up eight runs on nine hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings. Cameron Maybin was one of two Lakeland hitters to have two hits in the game.
Game two was a 4-0 loss and it was Lucas French who took the loss. He gave up four runs (just one earned) on three hits and three walks in 2 2/3 innings. Shawn Roof was the only Lakeland hitter in this one to have two hits.
