Rudy Lugo and Casey Fien combined for a solid outing as the Hens took care of Lehigh Valley 5-3 in the first of two. Lugo gave up three runs (just one earned) on three hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. Fien threw 1 2/3 innings of shutout relief and he improved to 1-0. Will Rhymes doubled, drove in two and scored once while Scott Sizemore went two for four with a double and a two run home run.
Lauren Gagnier threw five shutout innings and he improved to 2-2 in the second game. Dan Schlereth and Jay Sborz then threw shutout innings each to finish up game. Sborz picked up his eleventh save of the season. Danny Worth singled, scored a run and drove in one. Ben Guez hit a solo home run, his second of the season.
Ruddy Lugo fell to 1-2 on the season with a rough start in the Hens 9-6 loss to Indianapolis. He gave up seven runs (six earned) on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in four innings. Three of the six hits he gave up left the ballpark.
Casper Wells went two for three with a two run homer. Will Rhymes went two for four with a triple, a walk, two RBIs and a run.
The Hens took care of Indianapolis 6-0 behind some really strong pitching. Ruddy Lugo improved to 1-1 and he gave up just three hits and four walks with two strikeouts in five shutout innings. Casey Fien followed that up with three shutout innings of relief and then Robbie Weinhardt pitched a shutout ninth to finish up the win.
Will Rhymes had a big day at the plate. He went four for five with three runs, a double and an RBI. Brent Dlugach went three for five with two runs and an RBI while Brennan Boesch went three for five with a double, a triple and three RBIs.
The Hens were down 2-1 in the bottom of the eighth but they capitalized on a throwing error to end up with a pair of runs to come from behind in a 3-2 win. Mike Hessman was the hitting star and he went two for four with a home run and two runs.
Ruddy Lugo had a nice start and he gave up one unearned run with seven strikeouts in six innings. Clay Rapada got the win with two strikeouts in 2/3 of an inning and he improved to 3-2 while Casey Fien got the final two outs to pick up his ninth save of the season.
Ruddy Lugo fell to 6-6 on the season with a rough start in the Hens 4-2 loss to Indianapolis. He gave up four runs on eight hits and three walks with five strikeouts in six innings.
Brent Clevlen went two for four with a double and a run. Jeff Larish went two for four with two singles.
The Hens took care of business in each of their games over the Red Wings. In the first one, Clete Thomas went two for three with a double, a walk, a run and two RBIs. Jeff Larish doubled, drew a walk, a run and two RBIs. Ruddy Lugo improved to 6-5 despite a mediocre start. He gave up three runs on seven hits and four walks with two strikeouts in five innings. Freddy Dolsi gave up an unearned run and he picked up his fourth save of the season.
Game two was an eleven inning marathon. Thomas had another nice game and he went three for five with two doubles and an RBI. Scott Sizemore went three for six with a triple, a home run and two RBIs. Lucas French struck out ten and gave up just one run in six innings. Fu-Te Ni threw two shutout innings to close out the game and he improved to 3-0.
The Hens couldn’t get much going at the plate and they lost to the Norfolk Tides 5-1. They picked up just six hits and Wilkin Ramirez picked up two of those and he scored the lone Toledo run. Brent Dlugach had the lone extra base hit with a double.
Ruddy Lugo took the loss and he fell to 4-5. He gave up four runs (just one earned) on four hits and three walks with a strikeout in six innings.
Ruddy Lugo improved to 4-4 on the season with a solid start in the Hens 5-2 win over the Durham Bulls. He gave up two runs on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings. Clay Rapada threw three shutout innings and he struck out four to earn his fourth save of the season.
Dusty Ryan belted a two run homer in the win. Wil Rhymes and Marcus Thames both went yard with solo shots.

Mike Hessman had a big game at the plate. He doubled three times and drove in two runs. Don Kelly went two for two with two walks and two runs.
The Hens had a tough time at the plate in their 6-0 loss to Pawtucket and with just six hits, the team couldn’t put a single runnner across the place. Brent Clevlen had three of those hits with a double and two singles and the only other Hen to reach base twice was Mike Hessman with two walks. They did have to face Dice- K in a rehab outing but that’s only part of the reason because he threw just 2 2/3 innings.

The Hens rallied for two runs in the ninth inning but it wasn’t enough in their 4-2 loss to Lehigh Valley. Clete Thomas drove in both of those runs and he was the lone Hens hitter with two hits. He also had the only extra base hit with a double.

The Mud Hens picked up a win at the first every game at Huntington Park in Columbus this afternoon. Ruddy Lugo had a nice start and he improved to 2-0. He gave up one run on four hits and three walks with one strikeout in five innings. Joel Zumaya continued his rehab with two shutout innings and Casey Fien pitched two shutout innings to close things out for his second save of the season.
Mike Hessman doubled and drove in two runs in the 3-1 win. Danny Worth was a perfect four for four with a walk, an RBI and a run.
