It’s bad enough when you pick up just two hits in a contest but it’s even worse when you get an extra inning and all you can still manage is a pair of hits. Mike Hessman drove in the lone run and he didn’t get a hit and Brent Dlugach singled and he scored the lone run.
A fantastic start by Brooks Brown went to waste. He gave up one run on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts in seven innings. Ron Chiavacci gave up the tenth inning run andhe fell to 1-5 on the season.
This was a tough one. The Hens got some offense going but the pen blew a three run lead in the ninth that sent the game into extra frames and then Rob Chiavacci gave up a run in the bottom of the eleventh as the Hens lost to the Bulls 6-5. A solid start by Chris Lambert went to waste. He gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits with six strikeouts in six innings.
Mike Hessman pushed his batting average a bit closer to the Mendoza line with a solid day at the plate. He went two for five with a double, a home run and two RBIs. Brent Dlugach went two for four with a two run blast.
Ron Chiavacci gave up a run in the top of the tenth and he took the loss as the Hens lost to Norfolk 7-6. This was after a rough start by Rudy Lugo. He gave up five runs (four earned) on nine hits and two walks with a strikeout in 5 1/3 innings.
The offense kept the Hens in this one and it was Dusty Ryan who led the way. He went four for five with two doubles, a home run and two runs scored. Jeff Frazier went three for five with a double and a run.
Scott Drucker improved to 2-2 on the season in the Hens 9-2 win over Lehigh Valley. He gave up two runs on six hits and one walk with eight strikeouts in six innings. Ron Chiavacci threw three shutout innings and he picked up his first save of the season.
Jeff Frazier homered and drove in three runs. Danny Worth went three for four with two runs.
Clete Thomas had a big day at the plate in the Hens 9-6 win over the Clippers. He went three for four and all three hits were for extra bases. He had two doubles, a home run, two RBIs and two runs. Don Kelly also had a nice game and he went three for four with a double and a run.
Eddie Bonine pitched three innings and he gave up two runs on five hits. Ron Chiavacci improved to 1-0 and he gave up two runs on four hits with six strikeouts in five innings.
Ron Chiavacci improved to 12-6 on the season with another nice start in the Hens 2-1 win over Indianapolis. He gave up six hits and one walk with four strikeouts in six shutout innings.
Mike Hessman provided the offense for the Hens. He belted his 31st homer of the season and he drove in both runs.
Ron Chiavacci improved to 11-6 with a nice start in the Hens 5-2 win over Columbus. He gave up one run on four hits with six strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings.
Mike Hessman went two for two with two walks, a homerun and three RBIs. Chris Shelton had a team high three hits with two doubles, a run and an RBI.
Ron Chiavacci improved to 10-6 on the season with an excellent start in the Mud Hens 4-0 win over the Bulls. He gave up three hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in seven shutout innings.
Andres Torres was the hitting star in the win. He went two for three with a double, a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.
Dane Sardinha had a career day at the plate in the Mudhens 10-3 blowout win over Richmond. He belted three homers and drove in seven runs in the game. Prior to that, Sardinha had hit only four homeruns the entire season so the offensive explosion was somewhat surprising. Erick Almonte also pitched in with a two run homer, his first long ball since being promoted to Triple A.
Ron Chiavacci picked up the win and he improved to 9-5 on the season. He gave up two runs on six hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in six innngs of work.
Timo Perez had a big day at the plate in the Mud Hens 12-2 win over Pawtucket. He went two for three with five RBIs and a run. Andres Torres had a big game as well. He went two for five with a homerun, three RBIs and two runs.
Ron Chiavacci picked up the win and he improved to 8-5 on the season. He gave up two runs on seven hits and one walk with five strikeouts in six innings of work.
Henry Mateo singled home David Espinosa in the bottom of the tenth inning to win it for the Mud Hens. Jack Hannahan finished the game with two RBIs and Brent Clevlen continued his hot hitting with a three for five game with a solo homerun and a double.
Aquilino Lopez picked up the win with a shutout tenth and he improved to 3-1 on the season. Ron Chiavacci struck out four and gave up two runs in 5 1/3 innings in his start.
In just his second game back to the Mud Hens, Brent Clevlen put together a nice day at the plate. He went three for five with a double, a homerun, three RBIs and two runs. Henry Mateo also had a nice game and he went three for five with two runs in the 8-7 win.
Ron Chiavacci had a tough time and he gave up five runs in 5 1/3 innings in his start. Vic Darensbourg improved to 4-1 with the win and he got two batters out.
The Mud Hens weren’t able to get much done at the plate in their 3-1 loss to the Durham Bulls. Chris Shelton doubled and he drove in the only run while Kevin Hooper doubled and scored the only run.
Ron Chiavacci took the loss although he actually threw a decent game. He gave up two runs (one earned) on six hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in six innings of work.
Ron Chiavacci improved to 7-4 on the season with a nice start in the Hens 5-2 win over Ottawa. He gave up two runs on seven hits with four walks in seven innings.
Kevin Hooper went two for three with a walk, an RBI and three runs. Ramon Santiago went three for five with a double and a run.
Aquillino Lopez gave up a run in the bottom of the tenth and he took the loss in a tight ten inning game between Ottawa and the Hens. A pretty good start by Ron Chivacci went to waste. He gave up three runs on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts in eight solid innings.
Jack Hannahan had a great day at the plate in the 4-3 loss. He went three for three with a double and a two run homer. Chris Shelton went two for four with a double, an RBI and a run.
The Mud Hens poured on the offense in their 12-3 blowout win over the Syracuse Chiefs. Chris Shelton went two for four with a homerun and two runs. David Espinosa tripled and he drove in three runs while Mike Hessman went three for three with a double and three runs.

Kenny Rogers was definitely a sight for sore eyes and he looked pretty sharp in his first rehab start. He gave up just three hits and he struck out two in 3 2/3 innings. Ron Chiavacci picked up the win and he gave up one run on three hits and a walk with three strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.
Chris Shelton had a nice day at the plate in the 2-1 win. He went two for three with two doubles and a run.
Ron Chiavacci improved to 4-4 on the season with one of his best starts of the season. He gave up just three hits and three walks with two strikeouts in six shutout innings.
David Espinosa went one for three with three RBIs and a run. Ryan Rayburn singled twice, drew a walk and scored two runs.
The Mud Hens beat the Yankees 7-0 and Ron Chiavacci got it done on the mound. He gave up four hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings of relief. Jordan Tata made his first start of the season and he threw three scoreless frames.
Ryan Rayburn walked in all five of his at bats and he scored twice in the win. Mike Hessman went two for five and he belted a grand slam.
Ron Chiavacci had a nice start in the Hens 8-1 win over the Clippers. He gave up just a single run on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts in seven solid innings. The win improved Chiavacci’s record to 2-4 on the season.
Ryan Rayburn tripled, drove in two and scored a run. David Espinosa went two for five with two doubles, an RBI and two runs.
