Ron Chiavacci improved to 7-4 on the season with a nice start in the Hens 5-2 win over Ottawa. He gave up two runs on seven hits with four walks in seven innings.
Kevin Hooper went two for three with a walk, an RBI and three runs. Ramon Santiago went three for five with a double and a run.
Mike Hessman had a nice day at the plate in the Mud Hens 9-1 blowout win over Indianapolis. He gave went two for two with a double, three walks, five RBIs and two runs. Ramon Santiago went three for four with a double, a run and a walk.
Yorman Bazardo threw seven scoreless innings and he improved to 6-3 on the season. He gave up four hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
The Mud Hens managed only four hits in a twelve inning game but they still walked away with a 2-1 win. Dane Sardinha drew a bases loaded walk in the top of the twelth to win it for the Hens. Ramon Santiago had two of the four hits and he scored the first run for the Hens in the first inning.
Virgil Vasquez threw six shutout innings and then Yorman Bazardo gave up just one run in five innings of relief to pick up the win. He improved to 5-3 on the season.
The Mud Hens pitching was pretty spotty but they got it done at the plate in their 11-8 win over Ottawa. Ramon Santiago went four for six with three RBIs and a run and Jack Hannahan went two for three with two RBIs, two walks and three runs. Mike Hessman also contributed with a two run homerun. It was his 20th long ball of the year.
Corey Hamman was hit for seven runs in 5 2/3 innings but with all of the offense, he still picked up his first win of the season. He improved to 1-5 on the season.
Ian Ostlund gave up three late runs to the Knights but Jeremy Johnson came in and pitched the ninth to stop the damage and help the Hens hold on for the win. Zach Miner picked up his first minor league win with a solid start. He gave up two runs on six hits and two walks with six strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings.
Ramon Santiago had three stolen bases and ironically they were his first three of the season. Mike Hessman went two for three with a homerun and two RBIs.
The Mud Hens took care of the Knights 9-3 and Timo Perez led the way at the plate. He went three for five with a double, a homerun, three RBIs and three runs. Ramon Santiago also had three hits in the game while Chris Shelton finished with two hits and two runs.
Dennis Tankersley picked up the win and he improved to 4-2 on the season. He gave up two runs on eight hits and three walks with five strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
Ron Chiavacci dropped to 1-2 on the season with a poor start in the Mud Hens 7-5 loss. He gave up five runs on seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings.
Timo Perez had a nice day at the plate. He went two for five with a double, two RBIs and two runs. Ryan Rayburn and Ramon Santiago each had three hits in the loss.
The Mud Hens got just enough offense to top the Durham Bulls 5-4. Ryan Rayburn led the way with a two run homer and Ramon Santiago doubled twice, scored a run and drove in one.
Ron Chiavacci had a tough time in his start. He gave up four runs on six hits and one walk with six strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. Vic Darensbourg picked up the win and Aquilino Lopez picked up his third save of the season.
It took them three games, but the Mud Hens finally picked up their first win of the season in a 14-2 blowout win over the Bats. Mike Hessman was a perfect five for five and he scored three times while Chris Shelton and Timo Perez both homered. Ramon Santiago and Brent Clevlen both drove in three runs as everyone was a hitting star.
Dennis Tankersley picked up the win with five solid innings. He gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Preston Larrison had a tough time on the mound. He gave up two hits and four walks in 2 1/3 but oddly, all of those walks didn’t come back to haunt him as he didn’t give up a run.
