Mud Hens Pitchers Have One Bad Inning in Loss to Bats

by @ 11:08 pm. Filed under Jack Hannahan, Preston Larrison, Ryan Raburn, Toledo Mud Hens - July 2007, Yorman Bazardo

Three different Mud Hens pitches gave up a combined eight runs in the seventh inning as the Bats took this one 10-8.  Yorman Bazardo got the inning going but he was pulled with one out before Preston Larrison came in and gave up the bulk of the damage.  He took the loss and he gave up four runs on four hits with out getting a single batter out.

Ryan Rayburn didn’t get a hit but the big news was his callup to the big league team.  Jack Hannahan was two for three with a double and two runs.

Timo Perez’s Hitting Streak Ends in Mud Hens Ten Inning Loss

by @ 6:28 pm. Filed under Chris Shelton, Mike Hessman, Preston Larrison, Toledo Mud Hens - April 2007, Zach Miner

This is just one of those things. Timo Perez had an eighteen game hitting streak and he was called on to pinch hit in an extra inning loss to Charlotte.   With just the one chance, he didn’t come through so the streak ends at 18.

Even more important is the Hens lost this one 6-4.  Zach Miner gave up two runs in the sixth that tied the game and then Preston Larrison gave up two unearned runs in the tenth on a two run homer to lose it.

All four Mud Hens runs came via the long ball.  Chris Shelton hit a two run shot and Ryan Rayburn and Mike Hessman each hit solo shots.

Mike Hessman Racks Up Five Hits in 14-2 Win Over Bats

by @ 6:48 pm. Filed under Brent Clevlen, Chris Shelton, Dennis Tankersley, Mike Hessman, Preston Larrison, Ramon Santiago, Timo Perez, Toledo Mud Hens - April 2007

It took them three games, but the Mud Hens finally picked up their first win of the season in a 14-2 blowout win over the Bats.  Mike Hessman was a perfect five for five and he scored three times while Chris Shelton and Timo Perez both homered.  Ramon Santiago and Brent Clevlen both drove in three runs as everyone was a hitting star.

Dennis Tankersley picked up the win with five solid innings.  He gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts.  Preston Larrison had a tough time on the mound.  He gave up two hits and four walks in 2 1/3 but oddly, all of those walks didn’t come back to haunt him as he didn’t give up a run.
