The Tigers took care of the Doubledays in an exciting eleven inning pitcher’s duel that saw both teams shut down at the plate. Jonathan Kibler struck out nine in eight shutout inning before he left the game. Then Erik Crichton threw 2 2/3 innings but got into trouble in the top of the eleventh when he put two men on. Rudy Darrow came in and got the final batter out though and he picked up the win.
Michael Sullivan singled home Casper Wells in the bottom of the eleventh for the lone run from either team. Wells finished the game with a team high three hits and for Sullivan, it was his single came on his only at bat of the game. Game two is tomorrow.
Oneonta fell to Aberdeen 7-2 as the New York/Penn League came to a close. Emmanuel Miguelez gave up just one run but it was the first one and he took the loss. Sean Finefrock gave up five runs in just 2/3 of an inning but only one of those runs was earned.
Michael Sullivan went three for four in the loss. Jorge Patino went two for four and all eight of the Tigers runs were singles.
Oneonta won their division and they’ll begin a best of three game series beginning Sunday. Their opponents will be the Auburn Doubledays.
Oneonta hitters put up nine runs on the board but they needed every one of them in a 9-8 win. Casper Wells went three for four with a double, a triple, an RBI and two runs. Micheal Sullivan went three for three with a walk, a double, a triple, two RBIs and a run.
Rudy Darrow picked up the win. He didn’t allow a base runner in two shutout innings and the win pushed his record to 1-3.
Sean Finefrock improved to 1-1 on the season with six solid frames in Oneonta’s 4-3 win over State College. He gave up one run on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
Michael Sullivan had a great day at the plate in the win. He went three for four with a double, a triple, two RBIs and a run. Justin Henry went three for four with a double, a walk and a run.
Kody Kaiser had another great game and he raised his batting average to .370 with a great day at the plate. He went two for three with two walks and he scored four times. Michael Sullivan went three for four with a triple, three RBIs and two runs while Devin Thomas went three for five with two RBIs.
Alfredo Figaro picked up the win and he improved to 1-2 on the season. He gave up three runs on seven hits and one walk with two strikeouts in five innings.
Sendy Vasquez took the loss in a rough start in Oneonta’s 13-8 loss to Lowell. He gave up eight run (six earned) on five hits and six walks with a strikeout in just three innings.
Michael Sullivan was the hitting star in the loss. He went three for three with a double, a triple and he scored three runs.
