Trevor Feeney fell to 7-8 on the season with a rough start in the Whitecaps 7-3 loss to the Dragons. He gave up five runs on eleven hits and one walk with four strikeouts in five innings.
Michael Rockett had the nice day at the plate. He went two for four with a home run, two runs and two RBIs. Wade Gaynor doubled and drew a walk.
The Whitecaps fell to the Loons 5-3 and while the pitching was decent, it was enough to walk away with the win in this one. Jade Todd fell to 0-2 and he gave up three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk with six strikeouts in five innings. Nate Newman gave up two runs on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts in four innings of relief.
Michael Rockett doubled and scored a run in the loss. Eric Roof went two for three with a walk.
The Whitecaps let this one get away from them in a ten inning loss to Lake County. Trevor Feeney threw six shutout innings in his start but unfortunately, the pen gave some ground. Kenny Faulk gave up two runs in the ninth and that sent the game into extra frames and then Luis Angel Sanz gave up the run in the tenth and he took the loss.
Michael Rockett belted a home run and he drove in a pair of runs. Jordan Lennerton went two for four with a double and a run while Jamie Johnson went two for three with two walks.
Oneonta’s season is winding down and they added two more losses yesterday. Game one was an ugly 13-0 beatdown in which Jose Siso took the loss. He gave up eleven runs on twelve hits and three walks with one strikeout in 1 2/3 innings. Jamie Johnson went two for three and he had two of the five Oneonta hits.
Game two didn’t go much better and that was a 6-2 loss. Johnson tripled while Michael Rockett and Alexis Espinoza both singled and scored a run. Mike LaLuna fell to 3-5 and he gave up three runs on four hits and three hits with five strikeouts in four innings.
Oneonta took care of Hudson Valley 3-1 and while Nate Newman had a decent start (one run in 4 1/3 innings), the bullpen really shined in this one. Michael Torrealba improved to 2-1 and he threw 2 2/3 shutout innings while Jose Ortega threw two shutout frames and he picked up his first save of the season.
Alexis Espinoza belted a solo home run in the win, his second of the season. Michael Rockett tripled and he drove in a run.
Oneonta had a tough time getting anything going at the plate as they lost a tough one to the Cyclones 2-1. John Murrian doubled and drove in the one run while Michael Rockett singled and scored.
A decent start by Jose Diaz went to waste. He gave up two runs on seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts in five innings.
Mike LaLuna improved to 2-3 on the season with a nice start in the Tigers 8-1 win over Tri-City. The win completed a doubleheader sweep in which LaLuna gave up just two hits and four walks with four strikeouts in five shutout innings.
Michael Rockett went four for four and he scored three runs in the win. Eric Roof went two for four with a grand slam.
The Tigers went into the eighth inning down 7-2 and while they made a game of it by scoring four runs in the final four frames, it wasn’t enoughas they fell a run short in the 7-6 loss. Clemente Mendoza took the loss and he fell to 3-2. He gave up three runs on five hits and four walks with five strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.
John Murrian went three for five wit a triple in the loss. Michael Rockett tripled twice, drove in two and scored two runs.
Talk about a hard luck loss. The Tigers came back from three down to take a 4-3 and eventually a 6-3 lead only to see the pen implode in the ninth for five runs. Kevan Hess, who was in line for his second win, threw four shutout innings before Kenny Faulk was tagged for four runs in the ninth as he fell to 0-1.
Christpher Sedon went one for four with a triple, two runs and three RBIs. Michael Rockett went two for four with a double and an RBI.
Oneonta scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh and that gave the Tigers their first lead of the game. Fortunately it stuck and the Tigers walked away with a 5-4 win. Jamie Johnson went one for three with a walk and two runs. Michael Rockett tripled and he drove in two runs.
Jeff Gerbe was roughed up and he gave up three runs in 1 2/3 innings in his start. Mike LaLuna was particulary impressive and he gave up just three hits and a walk with three strikeouts in three shutout innings. The win improved his record to 1-1. Kenny Faulk got the final two batters out and he picked up his third save of the season.
Clemente Mendoza improved to 2-1 on the season with a nice start in Oneonta’s 6-4 win over Aberdeen. He gave up a run on one hit with four strikeouts in six innings. Kenny Faulk got the final batter out and he picked up his second save of the season.
Michael Rockett went thee for five with a double and two RBIs. Luis Palacios went two for three with a double, a walk, a run and an RBI.
There were plenty of hitting stars in Oneonta’s 9-3 win over Lowell. Michael Rockett went three for four with a solo homer, his first long ball of the season. Rawley Bishop had two runs and two RBIs without getting a hit and Alexis Espinoza went two for four with a double, two RBIs and a run.
Cory Hamilton picked up the win and he improved to 2-0. He gave up just one hit and he struck out five in three shutout frames.
Last night’s game was cancelled so Oneonta is playing two tonight. Game one was a 3-0 loss in which the offense was held to just four hits. Alexis Espinoza and Michael Rockett had the only extra base hits with a double each.
Gary Perinar took the loss and he fell to 0-1. He gave up three runs on five hits and four walks with three strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.
The New York/Penn League kicked off their season and Oneonta got some exceptional pitching in their 2-0 win over Tri-City. Jeff Gerbe made the start and he gave up just four hits and two walks with three strikeouts in six shutout innings. Mike LaLuna gave up just one hit and he struck out six in three shutout innings to pick up the save.
Michael Rockett went two for three and he scored a run. Wade Gaynor doubled and drove in a run.
