Like the Mud Hens, the Seawolves lost a high scoring game as they kicked off their playoff series with Akron. Eddie Bonine took the loss and he gave up five runs in five innings but he wasn’t just the problem. Anthony Tomey and Freddy Dolsi were both shelled as well in relief outings.
Nick McIntyre went two for four with with a homerun and two RBIs. Michael Hernandez also went yard with a solo shot while Daniel Worth had a team high three hits with a run and an RBI.
Jeff Larish finished off his regular season with a bang as he went two for four with a grand slam homer. It was Larish’s 28th of the season and t also put him over the century mark with 101 RBIs. He also showed some patience at the plate with 87 walks and you wonder whether he’ll be pushed next year to take over at first place for the big league club. A .906 OPS, even for a 24 year old, at the Double A level isn’t something to scoff at.
Matthew Joyce went three for four with a double, an RBI and two runs. Michael Hernandez went two for four with a solo homer and two runs. Dallas Trahern didn’t get a decision in his final start while Matthew Rusch improved to 6-1 with 1 1/3 innings of shutout relief.
Burke Badenhop improved to 2-0 on the season in Erie’s 7-2 win over Harrisburg. He gave up two runs on four hits with eight strikeouts.
Clete Thomas was the hitting star in the win. He went two for five with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs. Michael Hernandez went two for five with two RBIs and a run.
Erie scored two runs in the ninth inning to take care of Harrisburg 5-4. Michael Hernandez singled, drove in two and scored a run. Nick Trzesniak went two for five with a double and an RBI.
Anthony Tomey improved to 3-0 on the season. He gave up two hits with two strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings.
Michael Hernandez had a huge day at the plate for the Seawolves in their 12-4 win over Bowie. He went three for four with two homeruns and six RBIs in the win. William Rhymes went two for five with a double, two RBIs and two runs while Kody Kirkland went two for three with a double, a homerun, three RBIs and two runs.
Eddie Bonine improved to 14-5 with a solid start. He gave up four runs on seven hits and one walk in six innings of work.
Andrew Kown improved to 5-8 on the season with a nice start in Erie’s 4-2 loss to Bowie. He gave up one run on five hits and a walk with three strikeouts in seven solid innings.
Michael Hernandez belted his first homerun since getting called up to Erie. Nick Trzesniak pitched in with a two run homer.
There were plenty of hitting stars in Lakeland’s 13-4 blowout win over Fort Myers but Michael Hernandez was a notch above the rest. He went three for five with a homerun, five RBIs and two runs. Deik Scram went four for five with a double, two RBIs and three runs while Cameron Maybin went two for three with a double, two RBIs a walk and a run.
Eleazar Aponte improved to 4-8 with the win. He gave up two runs on five hits and four walks with three strikeouts in six innings of work.
Michael Hernandez belted two solo homeruns but it wasnt enough as Lakeland lost to Dunedin 4-3. He was the only Lakeland hitter with two hits in the game.
Josh Rainwater gave up three run in four innings of work. Gabriel Benitez gave up the losing run though and he took the loss.
Lakeland had a tough time at the plate in their two losses in a doubleheader sweep at the hands of the Yankees. In the first game, Lakeland was shutout 4-0 and they not only didn’t score a run, they were held hitless. Angel Castro took the loss and he fell to 3-1 on the season. He gave up four runs on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts in six innings of work.
The second game was closer but it was still a loss. Kyle Sleeth fell to 0-4 in the 4-3 loss and he gave up four runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings. Shawn Roof singled and drove in two runs while Michael Hernandez went two for three with a walk and a run.
Lucas French improved to 5-7 on the season with a nice start in Lakeland’s 5-3 win over Palm Beach. He gave up two runs on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Michael Hernandez led the way at the plate. He went one for four with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.
Michael Hernandez and Maxwell Leon provided the bulk of the offense in Lakeland’s 12-10 win over Daytona. Hernandez went three for five with a double, a homerun, four RBIs and three runs. Leon went two for three with a double and four RBIs.
Burke Badenhop was hit hard in his start but the hitters picked him up. Brendan Wise threw a shutout frame in the eighth inning and he improved to 1-1 on the season.
Michael Hernandez belted a pair of homers and he drove in four runs in Lakeland’s 7-6 loss to Sarasota. William Rhymes also had a nice game and he went two for three with two walks and a run.
Ricky Steik took the the loss and he fell to 2-7 on the season. He gave up a couple of hits and a run in the bottom of the tenth inning.
Lakeland bounced back after the doubleheader loss and beat Fort Myers 3-2 behind a strong outing by Burke Badenhop. He gave up two runs (one earned) on seven hits with three strikeouts in six innings.
William Rhymes went one for four with a walk, a double and two runs. Michael Hernandez hit a solo homerun and that was his thirteenth of the season.
Lakeland and Jupiter got in only one of their games because of rain and Lakeland came out on top 4-3. Angel Castro improved to 2-0 and he gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits and three walks with six strikeouts in five innings.
Wilkin Ramirez went three for three with a double and two RBIs. Michael Hernandez went two for three with a walk, a run and an RBI.
Lakeland got plenty of offense in their 8-3 win over Brevard County. Michael Hernandez led the way with a game high four RBIs. He went two for five with a homerun. Cameron Maybin went two for five with a triple, an RBI and two runs and Ovandy Suero singled, stole his 53rd base and scored a run.
Ricky Steik picked up his first win of the season with three shutout innings of relief. He gave up two hits and he struck out one.
Michael Hernandez had a big day at the plate in Lakeland’s 10-8 win over Sarasota. He went two for five with a homerun and four RBIs in the win. Ryan Roberson also had a nice game and he went two for four with a solo homerun and three runs.
Kyle Sleeth was hammered and it looks like his time with Lakeland isn’t going to be much better then when he was with Erie Derek Witt picked up the win and he gave up one run in his three relief innings.
Lucas French dropped to 4-5 on the season with a rough start in Lakeland’s 11-7 loss to Sarasota. He gave up seven runs on eight hits and a walk with six strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.
Michael Hernandez had a nice day at the plate in the loss. He went two for five with a triple, a homerun, three RBIs and two runs.
Lucas French was hit hard and while it was hardly a spectacular start for him, the defense didn’t help things out in this one. Five errors were made by the Flying Tigers and they resulted in a total of five unearned runs. So while French was tagged for nine runs, only four were earned. He dropped to 4-4 on the season and he lasted just three innings.
Cameron Maybin went three for five and he scored a run. Michael Hernandez went two for five with a double, a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.
Lakeland and St. Lucie let the pitching go out the window and they got down to smashing the ball. At the end of nine, the two teams were tied 10-10 and St. Lucie scored first in extra frames in the top of the eleventh. Lakeland answered though and Ryan Roberson hit a walk off two run homer in the bottom of the eleventh to win it.
