Juan Cedeno and Matthew Rusch combined to give up a run in the bottom of the tenth inning as Erie lost to Harrisburg 2-1. It’s too bad because a pretty good start by Jonathan Connolly went to waste. He gave up one run on three hits and three walks.
Daniel Worth was the hitting star. He went two for three and he scored the lone run for the SeaWolves.
Cameron Maybin picked up just one hit in Erie’s 10-9 win but he drew two walks, scored three times and he homered in his second straight game. Jeff Larish went two for four with a homerun, three RBIs and two runs.
Matthew Rusch picked up the win and he improved to 4-1. He struck out two and he didn’t give up a base runner in two shutout innings of relief.
Erie and Altoona played two because of yesterday’s rain out and each team took a game. Erie lost the first one 4-1 and Erie didn’t score until the final inning Joel Roa drove home Kody Kirkland. Andrew Kown dropped to 2-4 with the loss and he gave up four runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk with one strikeout in six innings.
Erie won the second game 4-3. Andres Torres hit a solo homerun and he scored two runs in the win. Pedro Cotto went two for three with a double and an RBI. Matthew Rusch pitched a scoreless seventh and he picked up the win.
Erie hitters had a rough day at the plate in their 5-1 loss to the Fisher Cats. Erick Almonte was the only Seawolf with two hits and Nick McIntyre doubled and scored a run.
A pretty good start by Jair Jurrjens went to waste. He gave up just one run on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts in six innings. Matthew Rusch took the loss with a rough relief appearance in which he gave up four runs in 1 1/3 innings.
Michael Holliman singled home Matthew Joyce in the bottom of the ninth to win it for the Sea Wolves in a 5-4 come from behind win. Earlier in the inning, Joyce had doubled home Andres Torres to tie the game up. Torres finished the game as the hitting star. He went three for four with two doubles, a run and an RBI.
Jair Jurrjens threw a nice game but he didn’t pick up the decision. He gave up three runs on eight hits with four strikeouts in seven solid innings. Matthew Rusch picked up the win with a shutout ninth.
Jair Jurrjens got off to a nice start in Erie’s 6-4 win over Akron, it’s just unfortunate that he only got to throw two innings because of a rain delay. He didn’t give up a single hit in those two inning and he struck out two. Kyle Sleeth continued his struggles and he gave up four runs in two innings. Matthew Rucsch picked up the win with 3 1/3 shutout innings.
Brent Dlugach led the offensive attack. He went two for five with a double, a run and an RBI.
The Seawolves picked up nine hits and three walks but they pushed only two runners across the plate in a 6-2 loss to Harrisburg. Clete Thomas went two for four with a double and a run and Michael Holliman had two singles and a run.
Eddie Bonine was roughed up in his start. He took the loss and he gave up three runs on four hits in five innings. Matthew Rusch was also hit hard and he gave up three runs in just 2 1/3 innings.
