Despite the fact that the Seawolves are in the middle of a race for the playoffs, all eyes have been on Cameron Maybin, who has given the team a huge boost. He kept things up tonight and while he didn’t hit a homerun, he did go two for three with a double, two walks and a run. Jeff Larish also had a nice game and he went two for five with a double and an RBI in the 8-6 loss.
Eddie Bonine was hit hard and he gave up six runs in four innings but he didn’t pick up the loss. Matthew Righter gave up two runs in the sixth to blow a tie game after Erie rallied to tie things up.
The Seawolves had a tough time and lost two games in a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Reading. In the first game, Jonathan Connolly fell to 4-4 on the season with a rough start. He gave up five runs (three earned) on nine hits and one walk with three strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. Michael Hollimon was the hitting star in the 6-3 loss. He went three for four with a double, a triple an RBI and two runs.
Matthew Righter lost the second game and he dropped to 2-3 on the season. He gave up four runs on eight hits and one walk with three strikeouts in four innings of work. Andres Torres hit a solo homerun in the 5-4 loss and Matthew Joyce went two for three with a triple and a run.
Jackson Melian had a huge day at the plate in the Seawolves 10-5 win over Bowie. In a game where eight of Erie’s runs came in the first two innings, Melian went three for four with a homerun, five RBIs and two runs. Clete Thomas went three for five with a triple, an RBI and two runs.
Matthew Righter was touched up for five runs in 4 2/3 innings and he didn’t get the decision in his start. Danny Zell picked up the win with 1 1/3 innings of shutout relief and he improved to 2-5 on the season.
Matthew Righter fell to 2-2 on the season with a tough start in Erie’s 5-4 loss to Reading. He gave up five runs on eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts in five innings.
Jeff Larish went two for two with a solo homerun. Nick McIntyre belted a solo homerun and he scored two runs while Kody Kirkland went two for three with a double and a run.
Erie got plenty of hitting in their 8-5 win over Portland, but it was Erick Almonte who played a role in half of those eight runs. He went two or four with a double, three RBIs and a run. Jeff Larish hit a three run homer and Mike Hollimon went two for four with a double, a walk and three runs.
Jonathan Connolly was tagged for five runs and he was gone before finishing the fourth inning. Matthew Righter picked up the win with 2 1/3 innings of solid relief.
The Seawolves put only one run on the board and a terrific start by Andrew Miller went to waste in a 2-1 loss. Miller gave up one run on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts in eight innings. Matthew Righter gave up two walks and a hit in the ninth inning and he took the loss.
Kody Kirkland drove in the only Seawolve run. He went two for four with a solo homerun.
While Andrew Kown threw a decent game and gave up just one run in four innings, reliever Matther Righter really shined. He gave up three hits and he struck out five in three solid innings.
Erick Almonte had a nice game at the plate. He went two for four with a homerun and two runs scored. Mike Holliman also got it done at the plate and he went two for four with a double, an RBI and two runs.
Lakeland lost 5-3 and all three runs were scored by Ovandy Suero. He went two for three with a walk and the three runs. Cameron Maybin went one for three with a walk and an RBI and he now has a hit in each of his last five games.
Matthew Righter was hit hard and he took the loss. He gave up five runs on six hits and a walk in just four innings of work.
Burke Badenhop had his first rough start of the season as Lakeland lost to Sarasota 7-2. He did give up four runs but only one of them was earned although he was touched up for six hits and three walks in five innings. Matthew Righter was hit hard as well and he gave up three runs in one inning while Gabriel Benitiz struck out the side in the ninth.
Cameron Maybin picked up another two hits and he scored a run. He’s now boosted his batting average up to .321 after a tough start. Mark Haske singled twice and scored a run.
