Daniel Fields tripled and drove in three runs to help give the Flying Tigers a 5-3 win over Brevard County. Kody Kaiser also had a nice game at the plate. He went three for five with a double and a run.
Mark Sorensen improved to 2-0 with a solid start. He gave up two runs (one earned) on six hits with three strikeouts in six innings. Lester Oliveros pitched a shutout ninth and he picked up his fifth save of the season.
Bryan Pounds had a huge day at the plate as the Flying Tigers beat up on Brevard County 8-3. Pounds was a perfect five for five with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Rawley Bishop also had a nice game and he went two for three with a double, two runs and two RBIs.
Mark Sorensen struck out seven and gave up three runs in 5 1/3 innings in his start. Erik Crichton improved to 1-0 with 1 2/3 shutout innings and Ramon Garcia pitched two shutout innings of relief to close out the game.
Lakeland finished their season with an 8-1 loss to Dunedin. Mark Sorensen took the loss and he fell to 1-2. He gave up five runs (four earned) on eight hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Nolan Moody was also hit hard and he gave up three runs in 2 2/3 innings.
Devin Thomas went two for four with a triple and he scored the lone run. Jordan Cruz singled in his only at bat and he drove in the lone run.
Devin Thomas had a big day at the plate as the Flying Tigers took care of Clearwater 10-7. He went two for three with a walk, a home run, four RBIs and two runs. Christoper White went two for five with a double, a home run and two RBIs.
Mark Sorensen had a rough start and as he continued his struggles since getting promoted. He gave up five runs in 4 1/3 innings. Trevor Feeney picked up the win and he improved to 2-4. He gave up a run on four hits with three strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.
Lakeland and St. Lucie combined for 23 runs and 38 hits but it was the Mets who got the upper hand in the 12-11 game. Justin Henry had a huge day at the plate and he went five for six with four RBIs and two runs. Christopher White went two for three with a double, two walks, three RBIs and a run.
Mark Sorensen gave up six runs in 3 1/3 innings in a rough start. Trevor Feeney gave up a run in 2 1/3 innings of relief but it was the final run so he fell to 0-4.
Mark Sorensen improved to 6-2 on the season with a really nice start in the Whitecaps 7-1 win over Kane County. He gave up two hits and a walk with six strikeouts in eight shutout innings.
Billy Nowlin went two for four with a double and two runs. Joseph Bowen went two for four with a double, an RBI and two runs.
There were plenty of hitting stars today as the Whitecaps blew out Beloit 11-3. Ten of those runs came in the third inning as they piled on the runs. Billy Nowlin had a nice game and he went three for five with two doubles, four RBIs and two runs. Bryan Pounds went two for six with a double, two runs and two RBIs.
Lost in all of the offense was a really nice start by Mark Sorensen. He improved to 5-2 and he gave up two runs on six hits and one walk with four strikeouts in seven innings.
Mark Sorensen improved to 4-2 on the season with a solid start in the Whitecaps 5-4 win over the Dayton Dragons. He gave up four runs (just one earned) on eight hits and two walks with three strikeouts in seven innings. Robert Waite was also effective and he pitched two shutout innings to close out the game and he picked up his first save of the season.
Gustavo Nunez went two for four with two runs in the win. Billy Nowlin went two for four with an RBI.
Mark Sorensen improved to 3-2 on the season with a really nice start in the Whitecaps 4-1 win over the Loons. He gave up just a run on six hits with four strikeouts in eight innings. Tyler Conn struck out two in a shutout ninth to pick up his third save of the season.
Brent Wyatt singled and drove in a pair of runs in the win. Ben Guez went one for two with a walk and two RBIs while Brandon Douglas went two for four with a run.
Mark Sorensen didn’t get a decision in the TIgers 1-0 win over Tri-City but he definitely got it done on the mound. He gave up four hits and he struck out four in six shutout innings. Daniel DeLucia improved to 2-1 and he gave up two hits and a walk with one strikeout in two innings of shutout relief.
Bryan Pounds tripled and drove in the lone run for either side. Christopher White reached base twice with a pair of walks.
