The White Caps continued their perfect start to the season with an 11-1 drubbing over the Loons. Casper Wells put on a show for the crowd in the home opener and he went four for five with two homers, four RBIs and two runs. Marc McBratney went three for five with a double, an RBI and four runs.
Lost in all the offense was some nice pitching. Jonathan Kibler improved to 1-0 and he gave up just one unearned run in five innings. Santo Mieses struck out four in three perfect innings and Andrew Hess bounced back from a rough outing this weekend and he threw a shutout ninth.
The White Caps made it three straight against South Bend although the games are getting tighter. This time it was 5-4 even though they had more then twice as many hits. Marc McBratney went three for four with a double, two RBIs and a run. Ron Bourquin doubled, walked twice, drove in a run and scored.
Emmanuel Miguelez pitched into the fifth and gave up one run before yielding to our own Andrew Hess. He got out of the fifth with a double play but then had a tough time in the sixth and he yielded three runs. Santo Mieses picked up the win although two of the runs that were credited to Hess scored off of Mieses.
Emmanuel Miguelez fell to 1-4 on the season with a rough start in the GCL Tigers 4-3 loss to the GCL Phillies. He gave up four runs on six hits and four walks with three strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Marc McBratney had a nice day at the plate in the win and he played a role in all three Tigers runs. He went two for four with a double, two RBIs and a run.
Brandon Johnson improved to 4-4 on the season with a nice start in the GCL Tigers 3-1 win over the GCL Braves. He gave up five hits and he struck out four in seven shutout innings.
Marc McBratney was the hitting star in the win. He went three for four and he came a double short of hitting for the cycle. He drove in one and scored twice.
Marc McBratney had three of the GCL Tigers five hits in their 7-0 loss to the GCL Indians. He also had the only extra base hit for the Tigers with a double.
Luke Putkonen took the loss despite a decent start. He gave up one run on two hits with five strikeouts in five innings. Brandon Johnson gave up six runs in his three innings but all six runs were unearned because of errors.
The GCL Tigers lost to the GCL Yankees 9-7 and two Tigers errors led to seven unearned runs. Nolan Chestnut fell to 0-2 in the loss and he gave up five unearned runs.
Carlos Ramirez went two for three with a homerun, three RBIs and two runs. Marc McBratney went three for four with two RBIs.
The GCL Tigers managed just two runs in a 3-2 loss to the GCL Yankees. Joaquin Guzman drove in both runs with a single and a double. Marc McBratney singled twice, drew a walk and scored two runs.
Aaron Fuhrman picked up the win and he dropped to 1-3 on the season. He gave up three runs on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
The GCL Tigers had a tough time at the plate in their 5-1 loss to the GCL Indians. Marc McBratney was the only hitter to reach base three times with two singles and a walk while Christopher White singled and drove in the only run.
Emmanuel Miguelez took the loss and he fell to 0-2 on the season. He gave up three runs on five hits and a walk with eight strikeouts in five innings of work.
