Jared Wesson made the most of minor league debut this afternoon and while he pitched just three innings in his start, he struck out seven and he gave up just a walk and a hit in three shutout innings. Wesson was signed as a free agent by the Tigers last week and he pitched at both Mississippi State and Itawamba Community College. He was the Marlins 29th round draft pick out of high school way back in 2005.
Robert Diaz fell to 4-2 in the 4-3 loss. He gave up three runs and he was able to get just one GCL Blue Jay out.
Jordan Cruz went two for three with a walk, a home run and two RBIs. Luis Castillo doubled twice, drew a walk and drove in one.
