A really nice start by Andrew Hess went to waste and he fell to 6-11 in the Flying Tigers 1-0 loss to Dunedin. He gave up one unearned run on two hits and one walk with one strikeout in six solid frames.
Joshua Workman went two for four and that was half of Lakeland’s offense. Jeramy Laster singled and drew a walk.
Lakeland couldn’t score a run and they were held to four hits in a 4-0 loss to Tampa. Audy Ciriaco and Jordan Newton both doubled and Joshua Workman singled and drew a walk.
Charles Furbush took the loss despite a decent start. He gave up a run on two hits and three walks with four strikeouts in five innings.
Lakeland and Dunedin played two and each team walked away with the win. Game one was a 3-0 win in which Mauricio Robles threw six shutout innings. He gave up four hits and he walked two with four strikeouts. Scott Green pitched a shutout ninth for his eight save and Maiko Loyola singled and drove in pair of runs.
In game two, the pitching was as solid but the offense scored just one run. Brett Jacobson took the loss despite giving up just a run on one hit (a solo home run) in 2 1/3 innings of relief. Joshua Workman doubled and he scored the lone run in the 2-1 loss.
The Flying Tigers took care of the Daytona Cubs this afternoon in a 2-1 pitchers duel and three pitchers combined for the exceptional effort. Matt Hoffman gave up a run on three hits with a strikeout in four innings while Robbie Weinhardt improved to 1-1 when he gave up just three hits with three strikeouts in four shutout innings. Brendan Wise threw a shutout ninth and he picked up his first save of the season.
Joshua Workman went two for three with a double and an RBI. Audy Ciriaco doubled and scored a run.
Darwin De Leon improved to 3-1 on the season with a solid start in Oneonta’s 6-3 win over Batavia. He gave up two runs on three hits and two walks with one strikeout in 5 2/3 innings. Aaron Fuhrman gave up one run in 3 1/3 innings and he picked up his first save.
Bryan Pounds singled, drove in two and scored a run in the win. Joshua Workman went two for five with two doubles and a run.
