Robert Waite threw six shutout innings in the Whitecaps 5-4 win to the Lugnuts only to see Brandon Hamilton blow the save yet turn around and get the win despite giving up three runs in one inning. Waite gave up just four hits and a walk with two strikeouts.
Jordan Lennerton went two for five with a double, two RBIs and a run. Joseph Bowen went two for three with a double, a walk and an RBI.
Mark Sorensen improved to 6-2 on the season with a really nice start in the Whitecaps 7-1 win over Kane County. He gave up two hits and a walk with six strikeouts in eight shutout innings.
Billy Nowlin went two for four with a double and two runs. Joseph Bowen went two for four with a double, an RBI and two runs.
The Whitecaps managed just a pair of runs in their 4-2 loss to Peoria. Casey Crosby took the loss and he fell to 7-3. He gave up four runs (two earned) on three hits and a walk with two strikeouts in three innings. Victor Larez was particularly impressive on the mound and he pitched five innings of shutout relief.
Joseph Bowen went two for four in the loss. Ben Guez went one for four with a double, a run and an RBI.
Jared Gayhart gave up a solo homer in the bottom of the ninth and that proved to be the difference in the Whitecaps 5-4 loss to the Dragons. It was Gayhart’s third inning of relief and he fell to 5-3. Brandon Hamilton had another mediocre start and he gave up four runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings. With his rough first couple of months, you wonder if Hamilton is destined for Oneonta when the short season teams start up.
Joseph Bowen went two for four with two RBIs. Mike Gosse went two for four with a double, a run and an RBI.
The White Caps couldn’t push a single runner across the plate as they were held to five hits in a 5-0 loss to Dayton. Joseph Bowen was the only White Cap to reach base twice with a single and a walk.
Alfredo Firgaro lost just his second decision of the season. He gave up four runs (three earned) on nine hits with four strikeouts.
Noah Krol blew his first save of the season and he gave up a pair of runs in the ninth inning in a 2-1 loss to Kane County. To his credit, a throwing error by Roger Tomas on a bunt in the ninth inning didn’t help things.
Kyle Peter went two for four with a walk, a double and a run. Joseph Bowen singled, doubled, drew a walk and scored.
Brandon Hamilton fell to 1-1 on the season in a rough start in the GCL Tigers 5-1 loss to the GCL Blue Jays. He gave up four runs on five hits and three walks with three strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings.
The lone run came off the bat of Joseph Bowen. He belted a solo homerun in the third inning.
After a couple of rain outs, the GCL Tigers finally got to play and they split a doubleheader with the GCL Blue Jays. Aaron Fuhrman threw seven shutout innings in the first game as the GCL Tigers won 3-0. He gave up just two hits and he struck out six and the win pushed his record to 2-3 on the season. Christopher White belted a two run homer in the win.
Game two didn’t go nearly as well. Brandon Johnson gave up five runs in five innings and he fell to 3-4. Joseph Bowen belted a solo homerun in the 7-3 loss.
Cameron Maybin has been back for just two games but he’s already shown he’s healthy with his second straight solid game. He went two for four with an RBI and a run. Joseph Bowen doubled and he drove in two runs.
Brandon Johnson picked up the win and he improved to 3-3 on the season in the 5-2 win. He gave up one run on five hits with four strikeouts in five innings of work.
The GCL Tigers were basically shut down in their 5-0 loss to the GCL Yankees. The hitters managed just three singles and a pair of walks in the loss and Joseph Bowen was the only Tiger to reach base twice with a single and a walk.
Chris Homer took the loss and he fell to 0-2 on the season. He gave up three runs in just 1/3 of an inning after Aaron Fuhrman threw seven shutout innings in the loss.
Joseph Bowen was one of the hitting stars in the GCL Tigers 5-3 win over the GCL Phillies. He went two for three with a walk, an RBI and two runs. Christopher White went two for five with two RBIs and a run.
Wilton Garcia picked up the win with three solid innings of relief. He gave up one run on five hits with three strikeouts and the win pushed his record to 2-0 on the season.
