The White Caps won their best of three game series with South Bend today and finished with a sweep of both of playoff series to play in the Midwest League championship series. James Skelton led the way at the plate and he reached base five times. He singled twice, doubled, drew two walks, drove in two and scored once. Brennan Boesch also had a nice game and he went two for five with two RBIs.
Charles Furbush picked up the win although he hardly his best stuff. He gave up four runs on six hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
The White Caps ended their regular season with a whimper as they were blown out by the Lugnuts 12-3. Ramon Garcia fell to 0-1 and he gave up six runs on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings.
James Skelton went two for four with a homerun and two RBIs. Brennan Boesch went one for three with a walk and an RBI.
The White Caps and Lugnuts combined for 23 runs on 36 hits in a 12-11 Lugnuts win as the two team’s regular seasons winded down. The White Caps came back from four runs down to tie it and send it into extra frames and then both teams scored twice in the eleventh. Then finally in the thirteenth, Zachary Piccola gave up a solo homer to end the game.
Four different White Caps had three hits and seven had two or more. Jeramy Laster went three for seven with three RBIs and a run while James Skelton had the White Caps lone long ball with a a two run homer in the third inning.
Zachary Piccola gave up three unearned runs in the top of the tenth inning as the White Caps lost to the Loons 5-3. He gave up one hit and one walk with one strikeout in that single frame.
James Skelton singled, scored and drove in a run. Michael Bertram doubled and drew a walk.
Joseph Tucker singled home Santo De Leon in the bottom of the ninth inning to win it for the White Caps. James Skelton went two for four with a double and two runs while Jeramy Laster went two for four with two RBIs.
Brett Jensen picked up the win and he improved to 5-1 despite giving up the tying run in the top of the ninth inning. Charles Furbush had another nice start and gave up two runs on seven hits and three walks with four strikeouts in six frames.
Matt O’Brien improved to 7-2 on the season with a nice start in the White Caps 7-2 win over Wisconsin. He gave up two runs (one earned) on eight hits and a walk with four strikeouts in seven innings.

Lauren Gagnier improved to 5-11 on the season in the White Caps 5-1 win over Clinton. He gave up just one run on four hit and two walks with six strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Duane Below improved to 10-5 on the season with a nice start in the White Caps 7-3 win over Clinton. He gave up one run on five hits and three walks with nine strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.

Jonah Nickerson improved to 10-6 on the season with a nice start in the White Caps 7-1 win over Peoria. He gave up just three hits and a walk with four strikeouts in seven innings of work.
James Skelton went three for four with two RBIs and a run. Gorkys Hernandez went two for four with a double and two runs.
Charles Furbush improved to 2-0 on the season with a nice start in the White Caps 3-1 win over Peoria. The Tigers 2007 fourth round draft pick gave up just one uneared run on two hits with three strikeouts in five innings of solid relief.
James Skelton was the hitting star in the win and he played a role in all three White Caps win. He went two for four with two runs and an RBI.
Gorkys Hernandez had a big day at the plate in the White Caps 7-3 win over Peoria. He went three for four with two doubles, a homerun and he scored three runs. James Skelton went two for three with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.
Matt O’Brien improved to 5-2 on the season with a nice start. He gave up three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk with two strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings of work.
Lauren Gagnier dropped to 4-10 on the season with another tough loss in the White Caps 5-2 loss to the Bees. He gave up five runs on eight hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings of work.
James Skelton had a nice day at the plate in the loss. He went two for three with a double.
The White Caps pulled this one out with a flair for the dramatic. Down 1-0 Scott Sizemore scored on a ground out by James Skelton to tie the game out and then Sizemore scored on a throwing error on a stolen base attempt in the bottom of the eleventh to win it. Sizemore finished the game four for five.
Casey Fien picked up the win and he improved to 4-0 on the season. He pitched a shutout eleventh inning in which he struck out the side.
James Skelton doubled home Scott Sizemore in the bottom of the twelth inning to win it for the White Caps 5-4. Jeramy Laster singled twice and drove in two runs while Santo De Leon went three for four with a triple and a run.
Casey Fien picked up the win and he improved to 3-0 with two innings of shutout relief. He gave up one hit and one walk with four strikeouts.
Scott Sizemore did all he could in this one but the White Caps still fell short in a 4-2 loss. He went two for three with a two walks and a run. James Skelton was the only other White Cap with two hits and he had a single and a double.
Lauren Gagnier took the loss and he fell to 3-8 on the season. He gave up four runs on six hits and four walks with six strikeouts in five innings.
Jonah Nickerson improved to 5-6 on the season with a nice start in the White Caps 5-4 win over the Lugnuts. He gave up two runs on six hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in six innings.

Duane Below left the game with a 6-0 lead after throwing five shutout innings but the saw the pen almost give the game up. A timely run by the White Caps in the ninth turned out to make a huge difference as West Michigan escaped with a 7-6. Below improved to 7-2 on the season with the win.
Michael Bertram went three for five with a double, a triple, an RBI and a run. James Skelton went two for five with a solo homerun and two runs scored.
The White Caps finally picked up a win and they did it with plenty of offense in their 9-1 win over the Dragons. Audy Ciriaco tripled, drove in three and scored a run while James Skelton doubled, walked, drove in two and scored two runs.
Jeffrey Gerbe improved to 2-0 on the season with a nice start. He gave up one unearned run on five hits and a walk with five strikeouts in seven solid innings.
Brett Jensen had a rough relief appearance. He not only gave up two runs in the ninth to send the game into extra frames, he also gave up a run in the tenth that cost the White Caps in their 7-6 loss to Fort Wayne.
Deik Scram doubled twice, drove in two and scored two. James Skelton went four for five with a homerun and two RBIs.
Angel Castro fell to 6-4 on the season with a pretty rough start in the White Caps 9-7 loss to the Loons. He gave up seven runs on nine hits and two walks with five strikeouts in five innings.
