After a couple of rain outs, the GCL Tigers finished with a split in their Indendence Day doubleheader with the GCL Yankees. In the first game, the Tigers lost 1-0 and they were held to just a pair of singles. Aaron Fuhrman took the loss despite a solid start. He gave up one run on three hits and two walks with six strikeouts in five innings.
The second game went a bit better with the Tigers doubling up the Yankees 6-3. Derek Lehrman was the hitting star and he went two for three with a homerun and two RBIs. Jay Sborz picked up the win with two shutout innings of relief.
Just about everyone was a hitting star in the GCL Tigers 15-5 win over the GCL Phillies. Brandon Harrigan had a team high four hits in five at bats with a double, two RBIs and four runs. Wade Lamont went two for five with a double, three RBIs and two runs.
Kelvin Cedano improved to 1-0 with the start. He didn’t give up a single base runner and he struck out two in 2 2/3 innings.
The GCL Tigers scored two runs in the eighth inning to turn a 3-0 deficit into a one run game but that was as close as they’d get in a 3-2 loss to the GCL Blue Jays. Carlos Ramirez doubled and drove in a run while Joseph Tucker went two for four with a double.
Brandon Johnson had a pretty good outing but he took the loss. He fell to 0-2 and he gave up one run on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts in four innings.
Luis Marte improved to 2-0 on the season with a nice start in the GCL Tigers 8-1 win over the GLC Blue Jays. He gave up one run on six hits and a walk with six strikeouts in seven innings.
Luis Arlet went two for five with a triple, a homerun and two RBIs. Christopher White drew two walks, stole two bases and scored two runs in the win.
Carlos Ramirez provided the bulk of the offense in the GCL Tigers 7-3 win over the GCL Braves. He went two for four with two doubles, four RBIs and a run.
Eleazar Aponte picked up the win and he improved to 2-0. He gave up two runs on six hits and two walks with five strikeouts in five innings.
Hayden Parrott had a nice day at the plate in the GCL Tigers 10-9 win over the GCL Braves. He went two for four with a double, a homerun, two runs and four RBIs. Brent Clevlen went two for four with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.
Wilton Garcia picked up the win although he was one of three pitchers who really struggled He gave up one run on one hits and a walk with two strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings.
The GCL Tigers didn’t get much at the plate in their 3-2 loss to GCL Indians and they were held to just three hits. Brandon Harrigan had two of those hits and he drove in one of the two Tigers’ runs.
Dario Carvajal has a tough time on the mound and he took the loss. He gave up three runs in just one inning of work. Santo Mieses had a nice outing though. He pitched four innings and he struck out four and gave up just one run.
What makes the GCL Tigers 10-0 blowout win over the GCL Yankees was that the game was cut short because of rain after just five innings. Carlos Ramirez went three for four with a double, a homerun and four RBIs. Brent Clevlen went three for three with an RBI and two runs.
Luis Marte picked up the win with five shutout innings. He gave up two hits and he struck out six.
Eleazar Aponte won his first game for the GCL Tigers in his third stop in the minor league circuit. He gave up just three hits and a walk with six strikeouts in six shutout innings.
Roger Tomas had a great day at the plate in the 3-0 win. He went three for three with a double and an RBI.
Aaron Fuhrman gave up four runs (just two earned) on four hits in three innings in the GCL Tiger’s 6-1 loss to GCL Phillies. He walked two in the game and he struck out two.
Wade Lamont went two for four and he drove in the only run of the game for the Tigers. Luis Arlet went two for three and he drew a walk.
Santo Mieses had a rough outing in the Tiger’s season opener. He not only gave up a big run in the ninth, but he also gave up three in the tenth as he took the loss. Brayan Villereal was also roughed up in his start. He gave up four runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.
Luis Arlet had a big day at the plate in the loss. He hit two solo homers and he finished with three runs scored.
