The GCL Tigers lost their final game of the season 2-1 to the GCL Phillies. Gary Perinar fell to 0-3 and he gave up two runs on four hits with four strikeouts. Robert Diaz struck out three in two shutout innings of relief.
Luis Castillo went one for four with an RBI. Londell Taylor went one for two with aa walk and a run.
Zach Samuels improved to 2-2 on the season with a really nice start in the GCL Tigers 3-0 win over the GCL Pirates. He gave up six hits and a walk with four strikeouts in seven shutout innings. Melvin Mercedes pitched a shutout ninth and he picked up his sixteenth save of the season.
James Robbins went three for four with an RBI. Elvin Soto went three for four with a home run and two RBIs.
Jared Wesson fell to 1-2 on the season with a mixed bag start in the GCL Tigers 3-2 loss to the GCL Pirates. He did give up three runs on five hits and two walks in just four innings but he struck out seven. Ramon Lebron had a really nice outing in relief and he threw four shutout innings.
Chao-Ting Tang went two for three with a walk, a double and an RBI. Eddie Rush went two for five with a double.
Rayni Guichardo improved to 4-4 on the season with a really nice start in the GCL Tigers 1-0 win over the GCL Blue Jays. He gave up three hits and three walks with five strikeouts in six shutout innings. Melvin Mercedes threw a shutout ninth and he picked up his fifteenth save of the season.
Brett Anderson led the way at the plate and he went two for four and he scored the lone run of the game. Luis Castillo singled, drew a walk and drove in the lone run.
Giovany Soto improved to a perfect 3-0 on the season with five shutout frames in the GCL Tigers 10-0 win over the GCL Yankees. He gave up four hits and a walk with four strikeouts. Marcos Nunez gave up four hits with four strikeouts in four shutout innings of relief.
Chao-Ting Tang went two for three with a home run, two walks, three RBIs and two runs. Londell Taylor went two for five with a double, two runs and two RBIs.
Alexander Nunez had a nice day at the plate in the GCL Tigers 6-3 win over the GCL Phillies. He went two for four with a triple, a home run, two RBIs and two runs. Jordan Cruz singled twice, scored two runs and drove in one.
Rayni Guichardo improved to 3-4 with a decent start. He gave up three runs on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts in six innings. Melvin Mercedes pitched a shutout ninth and he picked up his thirteenth save of the season.
The GCL Tigers got a really nice start from Giovany Soto as they topped the GCL Phillies 7-4. Soto improved to 2-0 and he gave up four hits and a walk with three strikeouts in five shutout innings.
Francisco Martinez went three for five with a run and an RBI. Elvin Soto went two for five with a double, a triple, two runs and two RBIs.
Jared Wesson made the most of minor league debut this afternoon and while he pitched just three innings in his start, he struck out seven and he gave up just a walk and a hit in three shutout innings. Wesson was signed as a free agent by the Tigers last week and he pitched at both Mississippi State and Itawamba Community College. He was the Marlins 29th round draft pick out of high school way back in 2005.
Robert Diaz fell to 4-2 in the 4-3 loss. He gave up three runs and he was able to get just one GCL Blue Jay out.
Jordan Cruz went two for three with a walk, a home run and two RBIs. Luis Castillo doubled twice, drew a walk and drove in one.
The GCL Tigers could muster just two hits as the lost to the GCL Blue Jays 4-2. Jordan Cruz accounted for the bulk of the Tigers offense with a two run blast in the seventh inning. The only other hit was a single by Luis Castillo.
A solid start by Rayni Guardado went to waste. He gave up three runs on seven hits and one walk with five strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings.
