Things didn’t go well for Lakeland in their first of two doubleheaders against Clearwater. In the first game, the Flying Tigers were shutout on six hits. Maxwell Leon went two for three and Eleazar Aponte took the loss despite a decent start. He gave up two runs on nine hits with two strikeouts in six innings of work.
Lakeland actually scored in the second game but the two runs weren’t enough in the 6-2 loss. Ovandy Suero went three for four with two runs and he also stole three bases to bring his season total up to 71. Josh Rainwater took the loss and he fell to 1-1. He gave up three runs on seven hits and one walk with three strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.
Lakeland took care of St. Lucie 9-6 in a nice team effort. Eight different hitters scored and Cameron Maybin led the way with a single, a double an RBI and a run. It very well could have been his last hit for Lakeland because Maybin got promoted to Erie. He won’t get to play today because Erie was rained out.
Eleazar Aponte improved to 5-8 with a nice start. He gave up three runs on seven hits with three strikeouts in six innings of work.
There were plenty of hitting stars in Lakeland’s 13-4 blowout win over Fort Myers but Michael Hernandez was a notch above the rest. He went three for five with a homerun, five RBIs and two runs. Deik Scram went four for five with a double, two RBIs and three runs while Cameron Maybin went two for three with a double, two RBIs a walk and a run.
Eleazar Aponte improved to 4-8 with the win. He gave up two runs on five hits and four walks with three strikeouts in six innings of work.

Deik Scram doubled and drove in two runs in the win. Joel Roa doubled and scored a run.
For the second time in three games, the Flying Tigers were shutout and this time they were held to just five singles. Wilkin Ramirez was the only hitter with more then one hit and he went two for four.
Eleazar Aponte took the loss and he fell to 2-7 on the season in the 6-0 loss. He gave up six runs (three earned) on seven hits with two strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Kody Kirkland doubled and drove in three runs to lead the way for the Seawolves in their 10-2 win over Bowie. Erick Almonte also had a nice day at the plate and he went two for four with a double, two RBIs and a run.
Jair Jurrjens improved to 4-4 on the season with the win. He gave up one run on five hits and three walks with an impressive nine strikeouts in six innings of work.
The Flying Tigers lost to Sarasota 2-1 and it was pretty much due to a lack of offense. Mark Haske belted a solo homerun in the sixth inning and that was pretty much it. The other three hits were singles by different hitters.
A pretty good start by Eleazar Aponte went to waste. He gave up just one run on six hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in six innings. Brendan Wise gave up a ninth inning run and he took the loss.
Five singles were all the Flying Tigers could manage in their 4-0 loss to Fort Myers. Justin Justice had two of those and he reached base a third time with a walk.
Eleazar Aponte took the loss and he fell to 2-6. He gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
Carlos Ramirez provided the bulk of the offense in the GCL Tigers 7-3 win over the GCL Braves. He went two for four with two doubles, four RBIs and a run.
Eleazar Aponte picked up the win and he improved to 2-0. He gave up two runs on six hits and two walks with five strikeouts in five innings.
