Lucas French improved to 1-2 on the season with a nearly flawless start in Erie’s 7-0 win over Harrisburg. He gave up just three hits with three strikeouts in eight shutout innings.
Daniel Worth had a huge day at the plate in the win. He went five for five with a double, a triple, two RBIs and a run. Freddy Guzman singled, drew a walk, stole his ninth base and scored twice.
Juan Cedeno and Matthew Rusch combined to give up a run in the bottom of the tenth inning as Erie lost to Harrisburg 2-1. It’s too bad because a pretty good start by Jonathan Connolly went to waste. He gave up one run on three hits and three walks.
Daniel Worth was the hitting star. He went two for three and he scored the lone run for the SeaWolves.
Like the Mud Hens, the Seawolves lost a high scoring game as they kicked off their playoff series with Akron. Eddie Bonine took the loss and he gave up five runs in five innings but he wasn’t just the problem. Anthony Tomey and Freddy Dolsi were both shelled as well in relief outings.
Nick McIntyre went two for four with with a homerun and two RBIs. Michael Hernandez also went yard with a solo shot while Daniel Worth had a team high three hits with a run and an RBI.
Andrew Kown improved to 6-8 in what was his last regular start of the season for Erie. He gave up three hits and a walk with four strikeouts in eight shutout innings.
Daniel Worth went two for four with a triple, three RBIs and a run. Nick McIntyre went two for four with a double and two runs.
Erie dropped both games of their doubleheader against Altoona the minor league regular season wound down. Of course with Erie assured of a playoff spot, these last few games aren’t as important. Game one was a 6-2 loss with Jonathan Connolly was hit hard. He gave up five runs on seven hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in five innings of work.
Matthew Joyce doubled and drove in two runs. Daniel Worth doubled and he scored once.
Justin Justice scored on an error in the bottom of the ninth inning to win it for Lakeland. Up to that point, Maxwell Leon had been the most productive hitter. He went four for five with a double and two RBIs. Daniel Worth doubled three times and he drove in a run.
Freddy Dolsi improved to 5-3 with the win despite giving up three ninth inning runs to tie the game up in the top of the ninth. Kyle Sleeth gave up three runs in six innings in his start.
Lakeland lost 4-3 to Palm Beach and it was Ricky Steik who gave up the run in the bottom of the ninth. He dropped to 2-8 on the season and a pretty good start by Kyle Sleeth went to waste. Sleeth gave up three runs (two earned) on two hits and five walks with two strikeouts in six innings of work.
Justin Justice doubled twice and drove in a run. Daniel Worth singled twice, drew a walk and scored a run.
Lakeland edged Palm Beach 3-2 and it was Daniel Worth who drove in all of the Flying Tigers’ runs. He went two for three with a double. Ovandy Suero doubled and he scored two runs in the win.
Angel Castro threw seven quality innings in his start. He gave up two runs on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Jacob Ramos picked up the win despite allowing the inherited tying run to score.
