Bryan Pounds Homers Twice In Erie Win

The SeaWolves got it done with the long ball in their 8-3 win over Bowie.  Bryan Pounds belted a pair of solo shots in the win while Deik Scram hit a grand slam in the fourth inning.

Charles Furbush struck out eleven in a nice start.  He gave up two runs on four hits and two walks in seven innings.

Erie Loses to Richmond In Eleven Innings

Lester Oliveros gave up three runs in the eleventh inning as the SeaWolves lost to Richmond 6-3.  Oliveros fell to 0-1 and that was after a solid start by Charles Furbush.  Furbush gave up three runs on eight hits and two walks with four strikeouts in seven innings of work.  Zach Simons also had a nice outing and he gave up just two hits and a walk with three strikeouts in three shutout innings.

Rawley Bishop went one for three with a walk and two RBIs.  Cale Iorg went one for with a walk and he scored a pair of runs.

Charles Furbush Has Rough Start In Lakeland Loss

Charles Furbush dropped to 6-7 on the season with a rough start in the Flying Tigers 8-5 loss to Daytona.  He gave up seven runs (four earned) on eight hits and two walks with four strikeouts in five innings.

Audy Ciriaco and Jeramy Laster both belted two run home run in the loss.  Joseph Tucker doubled and he scored a pair of runs.

Charles Furbush Has Rough Start in Lakeland Loss

Charles Furbush didn’t take th eloss, but he had a tough time in the Flying Tigers 4-3 loss to Tampa.  He gave up three runs on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five innings.  Chad Linder took the loss and he fell to 3-3 when he gave up a ninth inning run.

Maxwell Leon went three for five with two doubles in the loss.  Hernan Perez went two for four with a double and a run.

Lakeland Held to Four Hits In Shutout Loss to Tampa

Lakeland couldn’t score a run and they were held to four hits in a 4-0 loss to Tampa.  Audy Ciriaco and Jordan Newton both doubled and Joshua Workman singled and drew a walk.

Charles Furbush took the loss despite a decent start.  He gave up a run on two hits and three walks with four strikeouts in five innings.

Lakeland Takes Two Over Brevard County

Lakeland and Brevard County played two and Lakeland walked away with a win in both.  Game one was a 4-0 shutout that saw Lauren Gagnier hold the opposition scoreless through six innings.  He gave up six hits and a walk with four strikeouts.  Adrian Casanova went one for three with two RBIs while Devin Thomas went one for two with a walk and a run.

Game two was closer but once again, it was the pitching that shined in a 2-1 win.  Charles Furbush threw five shutout innings in a no-decision while Chad Linder threw a shutout frame to pick up the win to improved to 2-1.  Scott Green pitched a shutout ninth and he picked up his ninth save of the season.  Maiko Loyola doubled twice and drove in a run while Michael Bertram singled twice.

Michael Bertram Leads Lakeland In Blowout Win Over Clearwater

The Flying Tigers did just about everything right as they took on the Clearwater in a 12-0 blowout win.  Michael Bertram went three for five with a double, a grand slam and four runs.  Chris Carlson belted a home run and he drove in three.

Charles Furbush improved to 5-4 with a really nice start.  He gave up four hits and a walk with five strikeouts in six shutout innings.  Lester Oliveros gave up three hits with four strikeouts in three shutout innings to pick up his first save of the season.

Charles Furbush Throws Six Solid Innings In Lakeland Win

Charles Furbush didn’t get the decision in this one, but he was impressive none the less.   He gave up just one run on two hits and two walks with two strikeouts in six innings.  Lester Oliveros picked up the win and he struck out four in two shutout frames while Robbie Weinhardt threw a shutout ninth for his first save of the season.

Santo De Leon went two for four with a double and a run in the 4-1 win.  Justin Henry drew two walks and he scored a run.

Audy Ciriaco Drives In Seven In Lakeland Win

Audy Ciriaco had a monster game as the Flying Tigers took care of Brevard County 10-6.  He finished with seven RBIs including a walk off grand slam, his second homer of the game.  Kody Kaiser joined him with three hits, including a walk, a double and two runs.

Charles Furbush pitched five frames in his start but ended with a no-decision.  He gave up three runs (two earned) on seven hits with four strikeouts.  Chad Linder ended up with the win and he struck out one in 1 2/3 innings.

Jordan Newton Powers Lakeland to Win Over Dunedin

Jordan Newton belted a big two run homer in the top of the fifth inning to give Lakeland the runs they needed to top Dunedin 5-3.  He also doubled in the game while Kyle Peter went two for four with a double, two RBIs and a run.

Charles Furbush had a rough start and he gave up two runs on seven hits and two walks in 3 2/3 innings.  Robert Waite gave up a run in 2 1/3 innings to pick up the win and Scott Green pitched a shutout ninth to earn his fourth save of the season.

Lakeland Racks Up Thirteen Hits In Win Over Dunedin

The Flying Tigers took care of the Jays 8-5 in a game where there were plenty of hitting stars.  Christopher White was a perfect three for three with a walk and a run while Kody Kaiser went two for four with a triple, two runs and two RBIs.

Charles Furbush picked up the win and he improved to 3-1.  He gave up four runs on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts in five innings.

Lakeland Rallies To Top Tampa

The Flying Tigers overcame a 2-0 deficit to beat the Yankees 4-2.  Michael Bertram brought the big stick and he drove in three of the four Lakeland runs with a homerun and a single.  Andy Dirks also had a nice game and he went two for five with a run and an RBI.

Charles Furbush improved to 2-1 with a decent start.  He gave up two runs on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts in five innings.  Scott Green gave up a single and he struck out one in the ninth to pick up his third save of the season.

Charles Furbush Throws Five Shutout Frames In Lakeland Win Over Daytona

The Flying Tigers got it done and they did it behind the arm of Charles Furbush.  The lefthander, who missed all of last year, gave up just three hits and a walk with four strikeouts in five shutout innings.  Furbush has now pitched nine innings split between two starts and he has yet to give up a run.   He also has a 10-1 strikeout to walk ratio so it looks like the rust is gone already.  Scott Green pitched a shutout ninth to pick up save number one while Robbie Weinhardt struck out four in two shutout innings in an impressive outing out of the pen.

Michael Bertram was the hitting star in the 5-3 win.  He went two for four with a double and three RBIs.  Kody Kaiser didn’t get a hit, but he picked up three walks in four plate appearances and he scored a run.

White Caps Score Eight Runs in the Fifth Inning to Repeat As Midwest League Champions

The White Caps won the Midwest League championship for the second straight year as they came back from a 5-3 deficit to score eight runs in the fifth inning to turn the game into a rout.  Michael Bertram went three for five with a triple, two RBIs and a run while Scott Sizemore went three for five with an RBI and two runs.

Charles Furbush was roughed up and he gave up five runs in just two innings.  Luis Marte was impressive though and he threw five shutout innings of relief in which he struck out nine runs.

Charles Furbush Loses First Game In Minors

The Tigers 2007 fourth round draft pick, Charles Furbush was finally brought back down to earth as he lost his first minor league game since joining the Tigers.  He gave up four runs (all in the fourth) on seven hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in five innings.

Ryan Strieby went two for four with a homer and two RBIs.  Michael Bertram went two for five with a double, a triple and a run.

White Caps Beat Dayton In Ninth Inning

Joseph Tucker singled home Santo De Leon in the bottom of the ninth inning to win it for the White Caps.  James Skelton went two for four with a double and two runs while Jeramy Laster went two for four with two RBIs.

Brett Jensen picked up the win and he improved to 5-1 despite giving up the tying run in the top of the ninth inning.  Charles Furbush had another nice start and gave up two runs on seven hits and three walks with four strikeouts in six frames.

Charles Furbush Throws Another Nice Game In White Caps Win

Charles Furbush improved to 4-0 with yet another nice start in the White Caps 6-1 win over the Loons.  He gave up just a single run on five hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in seven very solid innings.

Brennan Boesch went two for three with a walk, an RBI, a double and two runs.  Jordan Newton went two for four with a triple and two RBIs.

Charles Furbush Strikes Out Ten In White Caps Win

Charles Furbush continued his domination of the lower ends of the minor league system with another nice start in the White Caps 4-2 win over Wisconsin.  He gave up just two runs on five hits with ten strikeouts in seven innings of work.  Since joining the White Caps, he’s struck out 28 and walked just four in 27 2/3 innings.

Ryan Strieby belted a solo homer in the win.  Audy Ciraco went two for three with a double, a triple and a run.

Charles Furbush Throws Five Solid Frames in White Caps Win

Charles Furbush improved to 2-0 on the season with a nice start in the White Caps 3-1 win over Peoria.  The Tigers 2007 fourth round draft pick gave up just one uneared run on two hits with three strikeouts in five innings of solid relief.

James Skelton was the hitting star in the win and he played a role in all three White Caps win.  He went two for four with two runs and an RBI.

White Caps Held to Four Hits In Loss to Cedar Rapids

The White Caps couldn’t get much done at the plate as they were held to just four hits.  Brennan Boesch belted a solo homerun and Joseph Tucker reached base three times with a single, two walks and an RBI.

Kelvin Cedano gave up two runs in two innings of relief and he took the loss.  A nice start by Charles Furbush went to waste and he gave up just one run on six hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in five innings.
