Despite some solid pitching, Oneonta lost to Staten Island 2-1. Luis Sanz had a mixed bag start and he gave up one run on three hits and five walks with one strikeout in five innings. Cory Hamilton gave up a run in the sixth and he fell to 4-5 on the season.
Rawley Bishop went one for two with a walk and an RBI. Carmelo Jaime singled and he scored a run.
Oneonta proved victorious in the first game of their doubleheader with Tri-City. Cory Hamilton had a really nice start and he improved to 3-1. He gave up three hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. Michael Torrealba struck out the final two batters of the game and he picked up his first save of the season.
Carmelo Jaime went two for three with two RBIs. Alexis Espinoza went one for three with a run and an RBI.
When the dust settled on this one, the Tigers ended up with a 10-8 loss to Mahoning Valley in a game where the two teams combined for 25 hits. Wade Kapteyn gave up two unearned runs and he took the loss to fall to 0-1 while Cory Hamilton was the standout on the mound. He gave up two hits and two walks with four strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings of shutout relief.
Jimmy Gulliver went two for four with a walk, three RBIs and a run. Carmelo Jaime went three for five with a double and a run.
