Armando Galarraga Has Solid Start In Hens Win Over Bats

Armando Galarraga improved to 2-1 on the season with another solid start in the Hens 3-1 win over Louisville.  He gave up just three hits and he struck out six in seven shutout innings.  Jay Sborz struck out two in a shutout ninth and he picked up his fifth save of the season.

Casper Wells pretty much was the Hens offense.  He homered twice and scored three runs.  Brennan Boesch also had a nice game with a pair of singles in three at-bats.

Hens Blowout Indianapolis 10-1

The Hens put it all together last night as they decimated Indianpolis 10-1.  There were plenty of hitting stars as five players had two hits each.  Brennan Boesch went two for five with a home run and two RBIs.  Casper Wells went two for five with a double, a run and an RBI.

Phil Dumatrait had a solid start and he improved to 1-0.  He gave up a run on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts in five innings.  Scot Drucker pitched four shutout innings to close out the game and he picked up his first save.

Ruddy Lugo Throws Five Shutout Innings In Hens Win

The Hens took care of Indianapolis 6-0 behind some really strong pitching.  Ruddy Lugo improved to 1-1 and he gave up just three hits and four walks with two strikeouts in five shutout innings.  Casey Fien followed that up with three shutout innings of relief and then Robbie Weinhardt pitched a shutout ninth to finish up the win.

Will Rhymes had a big day at the plate.  He went four for five with three runs, a double and an RBI.  Brent Dlugach went three for five with two runs and an RBI while Brennan Boesch went three for five with a double, a triple and three RBIs.

Aroldis Chapman Too Much For Hens

The Hens were in the spotlight yesterday because Cuban phenom Aroldis Chapman made his professional debut against the Hens and it was pretty brutal.  In 4 2/3 innings, he gave up an unearned run and he struck out nine.  In all, 15 Hens went down on strikes. It’s too bad because the Hens got some nice pitching as well.  Enrique Gonzalez gave up two runs in 4 1/3 inning and he took the loss.  Dan Schlereth pitched two shutout innings and Jay Sborz struck out the side in a shutout ninth.

Jeff Larish struck out four times in the 2-1 loss.  Brennan Boesch went two for four and he drove in the lone Hens run.

Erie Loses to Akron 4-3

Erie outhit Akron 11-6 but they stranded eleven base runners in a 4-3 loss.  Brennan Boesch went three for five with a double and he scored two runs while Michael Bertram went three for five with a home run and two RBIs.

Jonah Nickerson gave up three runs in six innings in his start.  Alfredo Figaro gave up an unearned run that proved to be the game winner and he fell to 6-3.

Erie Loses to Akron In Ten Innings

Erie blew a 3-0 lead in the eighth and ninth, scored a run in the tenth and then gave this one up as Brett Jensen gave up two runs in tenth in the SeaWolves 5-4 loss.  Jensen took the loss and he fell to 5-5 and a solid start by Lauren Gagnier went to waste.  He gave up a run on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts in seven innings.

Brennan Boesch went two for five with a double, a home run and two RBIs.  Michael Bertram went yard with a solo shot.

Erie Takes Two Over Harrisburg

Erie won both games of their doubleheader with Harrisburg with some very solid pitching.  Game one saw Alfredo Figaro throw three shutout innings of relief and he improved to 6-2 on the season.  Jason Waddell threw two shutout innings to close out the game and he picked up his second save of the season.  Brennan Boesch shined in this one and he went three for three with a home run and two runs.

Ramon Garcia picked up the win in game number two and he improved to 4-3 in the SeaWolves 5-1 win.  He gave up one run on five hits with two strikeouts in five innings.  Casper Wells was the hitting star and he went three for three with a triple, a home run, two runs and two RBIs.

Brennan Boesch Scores Three Runs in Erie Win

Erie took care of New Britain tonight in a 6-4 win and Brennan Boesch was amongst the hitting stars.  He went two for four with a solo home run and he scored three times.  Deik Scram belted a three run blast to put the SeaWolves on the board in the first inning.

Thad Weber improved to 7-4 despite a mediocre start.  He gave up four runs on five hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings.  Kris Regas pitched 1 2/3 shutout innings to close out the game and he picked up his first save of the season.

Brennan Boesch Belts Two Homeruns in Erie Loss

Two home runs by Brennan Boesch wasn’t enough as the SeaWolves lost to Reading 7-6.  Boesch belted both of his home runs against top tier prospect Kyle Drabek and he finished with three RBIs.  Deik Scram doubled twice, drove in on and scored a run.

Jon Kibler had a tough start and he gave up six runs in six innings in a no-decision.  Kris Regas gave up a run in three innings of relief and he fell to 0-1.

Alex Avila Belts Three Home Runs in Erie Win

Erie had plenty of hitting stars in their 16-3 win over the B-Mets but Alex Avila really shined in this one.  He went three for five with three home runs and seven RBIs in the win.  Brennan Boesch also had a great game and he went four for five with two doubles, a home run, three RBIs and three runs.

Thad Weber picked up the win and he improved to 4-2.  He gave up three runs on seven hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings.

Thad Weber Has Solid Start In Erie Win

Thad Weber had about as good of a start as you could ask as the SeaWolves took care of the B-Mets 5-1.  He gave up one run on five hits with three strikeouts in eight solid frames.

Brennan Boesch went two for four with a pair of runs.  Casper Wells went two for three with a double and three RBIs.

Erie Is Held to Two Runs In Loss to B-Mets

Erie racked up nine hits in this one but they managed just a pair of runs in a 4-2 loss to the B-Mets.  Brennan Boesch went two for four while Santo De Leon belted a solo home run in the loss.

Jonah Nickerson fell to 7-7 with a rough start.  He gave up four runs on nine hits and two walks (oddly with no strikeouts) in seven innings.

Erie Scores Early and Often In Win Over Trenton

Erie took care of Trenton 9-6 and this was a nice team effort at the plate.  Ryan Strieby was one of the hitting stars and he went two for five with a home run, two RBIs and two runs.  Brennan Boesch went two for three with a home run and two runs.

Jonah Nickerson improved to 5-6 despite a mediocre start.  He gave up five runs on eleven hits with two strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.

Jonah Nickerson Has Rough Start In Erie Loss

Jonah Nickerson fell to 4-6 on the season with a rough start in Erie’s 10-5 loss to Harrisburg.  He gave up seven runs on ten hits and a walk with four strikeouts in six innings.  Reliever Ramon Garcia also had a tough time and he gave up three runs in two innings of relief.

Brennan Boesch was the hitting star in the loss.  He went two for three with a home run, two RBIs and two runs.  Ron Bourquin tripled and he drove in one.

Erie Held to Five Hits In Loss to Akron

The SeaWolves had a tough time at the plate and they managed just five hits in an 8-1 loss to Akron.  Brennan Boesch had two of those hits to lead they way.  He doubled, tripled and scored the lone Erie run.

Luis Marte had a rough start but the two errors didn’t help much.  He fell to 2-5 and he gave up eight runs (just three earned) on nine hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.

Jon Kibler Pitches Erie to Win Over Reading

Jon Kibler improved to 1-2 on the season in Erie’s 3-2 win over Reading.  He gave up just one run on seven hits and four walks with two strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings.  Ramon Garcia gave up one run in 1 1/3 innings but he picked up his first save of the season.

Brennan Boesch tripled, drove in a run and scored.  Deik Scram pitched in with a solo homer, his fifth home run of the season.

Erie Gets In One Game, Lose 2-0 to Harrisburg

The SeaWolves had their previous two games rained out and last night, they got in one of their two.  Unfortunately, they were held to five hits in a 2-0 loss to Harrisburg.  Brennan Boesch was the hitting star and he went two for two with a walk.

A pretty good start by Jon Kibler went to waste.  He gave up two runs (both unearned) on three hits and four walks with three strikeouts in six innings.

Brooks Brown Throws Seven Shutout Frames In Erie Win

Brooks Brown improved to 1-0 on the season with an exceptional outing in the SeaWolves 3-1 win over Altoona.  He gave up just three hits and a walk with one strikeout in seven shutout innings.  Cody Satterwhite got the final batter of the game out and he picked up his second save of the season.

Brennan Boesch went two for four with a double, a run and an RBI.  Alex Avila doubled and drew a walk.

Jonah Nickerson Throws Seven Shutout Innings In Lakeland Win

Lakeland took care of the Reds 5-2 behind a nice outing by Jonah Nickerson. He improved to 6-3 and he gave up just four hits and a walk with six strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Brennan Boesch had a single, a triple and two RBIs in the win.  Gary Sheffield went one for two with a homerun, two walks and two runs.

Lakeland Edges Sarasota In Eleven Innings

Cale Iorg singled home Pedro Cotto in the top of the eleventh inning as the Flying Tigers took care of the Reds 3-2.  Brennan Boesch had a nice day at the plate and he went four for six with a run while Ryan Strieby went three for five with an RBI.

Duane Below threw seven solid frames to keep Lakeland in the game.  Jay Sborz threw three perfect innings and he improved to 1-0.
