Brooks Brown fell to 3-3 on the season with a rough start in the SeaWolves 5-3 loss to Akron. He gave up four runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings.
Andy Dirks went two for four with a pair of runs. Wilkin Ramirez drove in two with his fifteenth home run of the season.
Lauren Gagnier improved to 2-0 with a really nice start in the SeaWolves 7-2 win over Bowie. He gave up just two runs on four hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings. Brendan Wise also had a nice outing and he struck out one in 1 1/3 innings of shutout relief.
Andy Dirks went two for four with two runs and an RBI. Cale Iorg doubled and scored two runs.
The SeaWolves have found their groove now and last night they won their third straight game. Jon Kibler improved to 1-2 with a solid start. He gave up three runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts in seven innings. Luis Marte pitched two shutout innings and he struck out three to pick up his first save of the season.
Andy Dirks, Wilkin Ramirez and Deik Scram all went yard in the 5-3 win. Ramirez went three for five with a double, a home run, two RBIs and two runs.
After losing their first eight games, Erie has now won their last two and this time it was behind a nice outing by Andrew Oliver. He gave up just a run on three hits and two walks with three strikeouts in six innings. Brooks Brown picked up his first save with three innings of solid relief. He gave up a run on three hits with two strikeouts.
Cale Iorg went one for three with a home run, two runs and two RBIs. Andy Dirks went two for four with two RBIs and a run in the 8-2 win.
So much for the Eastern League being a hitters league at least for the SeaWolves. They once again were shut down at the plate and were held to four hits in all in a 4-1 loss to Trenton. Andy Dirks doubled, drew a walk and scored the lone run. Justin Henry doubled as well.
A solid start by Thad Weber went to waste. He gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Luis Marte pitched 1 1/3 innnings and he didn’t allow a baserunner.
A pretty good start by Jon Kibler went to waste as the Seawolves dropped their first game of the season 4-0. Kibler gave up two runs (one earned) on three htis with five strikeouts in five innings. Brendan Wise also had a nice outing and he threw 2 2/3 shutout innings without giving up a hit.
The batters only managed two singles. Andy Dirks and Wilkin Ramirez had the hits while Max St. Pierre drew the lone walk.
Santo De Leon was the hitting star in the SeaWolves 4-3 win over the Curve. He went two for three with a double and a solo home run. Andy Dirks pitched in with a solo shot of his own.
Lauren Gagnier made his Erie debut and he pitched a solid game. He improved to 1-0 and he gave up two runs on five hits and one walk with seven strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. Brendan Wise gave up a run in 2 2/3 innings and that was good for his second save of the season.
Pat Stanley improved to 5-4 on the season with a nice start in Erie’s 3-1 win over Reading. He gave up a run on six hits and four walks with four strikeouts in seven innings. Brendan Wise pitched two shutout innings of relief to close out the game and he picked up his first save of the season.
Cale Iorg had the big hit as he drove in all three runs with a home run in the fifth inning and a single. He was also the lone SeaWolf with two hits. Andy Dirks drew a walk and he scored two runs.
Thad Weber made the most of his season debut with the SeaWolves after his promotion from Lakeland. He improved to 1-0 and he gave up just two runs on eight hits and one walk with four strikeouts in six innings.
Andy Dirks singled and drove in a pair of runs. Cale Iorg had a nice game and he went three for four with a double, an RBI and two runs.
Andrew Hess had one of his best starts of the season as he gave up just six hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in six shutout innings. Unfortunately, he didn’t pick up the win because Lakeland’s hitters were late on arrival. The win actually went to Scott Green, who gave up the tying run in the ninth before Lakeland rallied with a run of the bottom half of the frame for a 2-1 win.
The game winner actually came on a wild pitch as Michael Bertram scampered home with one out. Andy Dirks went two for four with an RBI.
Robbie Weinhardt gave up a pair of runs in the top of the tenth inning as Lakeland lost to Dunedin 6-4. This was after a mediocre start by Lauren Gagnier. He gave up four runs on five hits and a walk with six strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.
Andy Dirks went three for three with a double, a walk and two RBIs. Kody Kaiser went two for four with a home run, a walk and two runs.
The Flying Tigers overcame a 2-0 deficit to beat the Yankees 4-2. Michael Bertram brought the big stick and he drove in three of the four Lakeland runs with a homerun and a single. Andy Dirks also had a nice game and he went two for five with a run and an RBI.
Charles Furbush improved to 2-1 with a decent start. He gave up two runs on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts in five innings. Scott Green gave up a single and he struck out one in the ninth to pick up his third save of the season.
Thad Weber improved to 2-2 on the season with an exceptional start in the Flying Tigers 5-0 win. He gave up two hits and three walks with six strikeouts in six shutout innings. Lester Oliveros didn’t allow a hit in the final two frames to complete the shutout.
Audy Ciriaco went two for three with two RBIs and a run. Kyle Peter went two for three with an RBI and two runs while Andy Dirks singled, drew two walks and scored twice.
