Lakeland got a ninth inning run but it wasn’t enough as they lost to Dunedin 4-3.  Rawley Bishop went two for four with two RBIs and a run.  Alden Carrithers also had a nice game with two singles and a run.

B rayan Villarreal took the loss and he fell to 2-3.  He gave up four runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in five innings.

A really nice start by Luke Putkonen went to waste in the Flying Tigers 2-1 loss to Dunedin.  He gave up just a run on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts in seven innings. Tyler Conn gave up a tenth inning run and he took the loss.

Alden Carrithers went one for two with two walks and he scored the lone run for Lakeland.  Bryan Pounds was the lone hitter with two hits in the game.

Luke Putkonen improved to 1-1 on the season with a really nice start in Lakeland’s 3-2 win over Brevard County.  He gave up a run on two hits and a walk with six strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.  Lester Oliveros got into trouble in the ninth and gave up a run but he struck out the side and picked up his fourth save of the season.

Alden Carrithers went two for three with a double and two RBIs.  Rawley Bishop went two for four with a run.

Ben Guez doubled and Alden Carrithers singled for the Flying Tigers lone two hits in a 4-0 loss to Tampa.  Carrithers was the only hitter to reach base twice because he also drew the lone walk.

Luke Putkonen fell to 0-1 with a rough start.  He gave up three runs on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.  Matt Hoffman had a nice outing of the pen though.  He struckout one and didn’t allow a baserunner in three innings of relief.

The Whitecaps loss their regular season finale 3-1 but not because of Anthony Shawler’s start.  He gave up a run on three hits with seven strikeouts in eight innings and for his exceptional start, he took the loss and fell to 7-5.  Tyler Stohr gave up two runs in the top of the ninth and that put the game out of reach.

Alden Carrithers went two for four with a double and he scored the lone run.  Billy Nowlin singled and he drove in Carrithers.

The Whitecaps were the lone Tigers affiliate to make the post season.  They’ll square off against the Great Lakes Loons in a three game series beginning Wednesday.

The Whitecaps managed just five hits in a 6-0 loss to Fort Wayne in their second to last game of the regular season.  Bryan Pounds went two for four while Alden Carrithers went one for three with a walk.

Robert Waite took the loss and he fell to 1-1.  He gave up five runs on four hits and four walks with four strikeouts in four innings.

There were a few hitting stars in the Whitecaps 8-5 win over Fort Wayne but Gustavo Nunez was a notch above the rest.  He went three for five with a double, a triple, two runs and two RBIs.  Ben Guez went three for five withtwo doubles, a run and an RBI while Alden Carrithers went two for four with a walk, wo runs and an RBI.

Erick Crichtron picked up the win and he improved to 6-0.  He gave up a run on two hits and a walk in two innings of relief.  Adam Wilk had a decent start but he didn’t qualify for the win. He gave up a run on four hits with five strikeouts.

The Whitecaps made three errors in the fifth inning in which Cedar Rapids scored all five of their runs in a 5-3 loss.  Casey Crosby fell to 8-4 despite a solid start.  He gave up four runs (just one earned) on four hits with six strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.

Alden Carrithers went two for four and he scored two runs.  Billy Nowlin tripled and he drove in a run.

The Whitecaps and Dragons combined to score 31 runs today and they were a ton of hitting stars in the 20-11 win.  Bryan Pounds had a team high six RBIs while Ben Guez drove in five.  Alden Carrithers had a team high four runs.  Oddly, none of the 20 runs came via the long ball.

Erik Crichton picked up the win and he was one of the few pitchers to throw without giving up a run.  He gave up a hit and a walk with one strikeout in two innings and the win pushed his record to 3-0.

Darlin Duran didn’t get the win but he threw a nice enough game as the GCL Tigers played a close one with the GCL Indians.  Duran gave up one run on two hits and a walk with one strikeout in five innings.  Jade Todd picked up the win and he struck out three in three innings of relief.

Derek Lehrman doubled, drove in a run and scored.  Alden Carrithers singled, walked twice and scored a run.
