Lakeland had a tough time getting anything going at the plate tonight as they lost to the Mets 5-1. Adrian Casanova accounted for half of those hits with a pair of singles and he drove in the lone run for Lakeland.
Lauren Gagnier took the loss and he fell to 8-7. He gave up five runs on eight hits and one walk with four strikeouts in five innings.
Lakeland and Brevard County played two and Lakeland walked away with a win in both. Game one was a 4-0 shutout that saw Lauren Gagnier hold the opposition scoreless through six innings. He gave up six hits and a walk with four strikeouts. Adrian Casanova went one for three with two RBIs while Devin Thomas went one for two with a walk and a run.
Game two was closer but once again, it was the pitching that shined in a 2-1 win. Charles Furbush threw five shutout innings in a no-decision while Chad Linder threw a shutout frame to pick up the win to improved to 2-1. Scott Green pitched a shutout ninth and he picked up his ninth save of the season. Maiko Loyola doubled twice and drove in a run while Michael Bertram singled twice.
The White Caps had a tough time at the plate and they were held to just six hits in a 2-1 loss to the Wizards. The lone run of the game came on a solo homer in the fifth inning by Adrian Casanova. Kyle Peter was the only White Cap with two hits.
Lauren Gagnier had a nice start go to waste. He fell to 1-4 and he gave up two runs on six hits with seven strikeouts in seven innings.
Sendy Vasquez improved to 6-5 with a nice start in the Tigers 8-2 win over Lowell. He gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits and three walks with five strikeouts in eight innings.
Adrian Casanova was the hitting star in the win. He went two for three with two RBIs and two runs.
Lucas French improved to 4-2 on the season in Lakeland’s 5-0 win over Palm Beach. He gave up six hits and one walk with five strikeouts in eight shutout innings.
Maxwell Leon went three for four and he scored two runs. Adrian Casanova went two for three with a triple, two RBIs and a run.
